Real time network
« on: June 25, 2010, 05:51:28 PM »
My first year free network subscription just ended yesterday, and i was wondering if the real time network really does worth the money.
after all, its an extra 10 euros which is 120 in total, not cheap. does it make any real difference to you then the 5 minutes delay?
I mean, its not like you can listen to the ATC in most of europe and follow them that way, so what does a 5 minute difference can make?

Depends what you use RB for.  If you are a spotter and can 'get out' quite far, then no.  If you like to see what's going on around the world, then yes.

Hi Jordan.
Another point is there is a lot of internet sites rebroadcasting ModeS and its free.
and some of them are really good,  so i will be using those to see aircraft coming into my sector and save myself some money, now if your into 3d well its cash on the dash.
I think you know what i mean Jordan.

In MyFlights, I can track aircraft arriving/departing my main local airport (Manchester) above about 2000ft. With the 5 minute delay, I was seeing departing aircraft on MyFlights before tey would appear on the network, and I'd have to wait 5 minutes before landing aircraft would actually "land" on my screen.

With the live network, this is all seamless and it's MUCH more satsfying.

Also, while watching live TV (for example Wimbledon) you can see on RadarBox what aircraft you hear flying over!

And remember that the live network is updated every 20 seconds rather than every 30 seconds with the delayed, so it's all a lot smoother.

Hi rod
I do not think i will be paying Semi-Annual - EUR € 59.95 per 6 months
over £100 a year i have better things to do with my money.
MyFlights is good enough for me
a wee question for you all, can you get ModeS live on the internet
