new to this system

Hi all,
im looking to get the radar box but not sure if it will work in my area.

I live at malin head in ireland
we have loads of aircraft at a very high altitude through the shanwick airspace.

any way of knowing if the system will work for me ?

Hi Steve,

Yes of course it will work for you. We have quite a few customers in Ireland, if you check our screenshots forum you see a few examples.

I am sure some of our Irish customers can give you further details on there setup and what they are seeing as well.

Plenty of activity in your area.  Here's a screenshot of current activity centred on your location.



Just remember that ModeS signals are line-of-sight, so to get best results you'll want to get the antenna as high as possible, and with as clear a view of the sky as possible.

Did I read that the new system has a built in receiver  so you can hear the planes to ?

Is there a web page i can goto to view the Ireland aircraft while im saving up for my unit?

Any aircraft with an "*" is coming from the Airnav network, not my antenna.

No.  Better to use a standalone scanner for that.

Where will I find the best vhf frequency to listen to up here in Malin Head?
I do hear a few people (About 1 an hour) on Shanwick 127.650
just wondering if there was somthing with a bit more life

Londonderry Eglington - approach=123.625 tower=134.15
Donegal - tower/approach=129.8 ATIS=129.925

Maybe others in NI can suggest suitable frequencies.

The website doens't see any trees, houses etc. around your house, more theoratical.
But yes, it gives a nice idea of your line of sight...
