Airnav database compatability with Kinetic ??
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:38:04 PM »
Hi,
Had my Airnav radarbox for nearly 2 years and is a fantastic piece of kit. Miles better in many ways than the other one but the way it lets itself down is with the database. I recently went to the states but a mate took the other box as with no internet link,( because at the airport )mine would be a waste of time. I have since copied his SQB file can this be put in the AirNav system ? Would only run it on my netbook I take away with me. This debate has been going on for sometime and AirNav loses a lot of sales because of this as a lot of my mates prefer the AirNav but is I believe only sold as a base station unit. Can anyone help on transfering or getting the database up to a higher level so I can take it remote with me.
Thanks for any he

In Database Explorer, you can import a basestation.sqb file.  Best to check out HELP and the PDF Manual for details, I haven't use this feature for a long time.

Mike, I wonder why you think that using your RB without an Internet connection would be any different to the other box?

The only thing that I can think of is that your mate pre-populated his database with American aircraft data before he went?  If he didn't then he wouldn't get aircraft details for aircraft that weren't in his database either.

RB works very well without an Internet connection, although new aircraft won't have their details auto-populated.

Thanks for the quick response. Quality like normal. To answer your question, yes he did. Like I have said the Airnav radar box is far superior but for spotters like myself who are fortunate to travel the world with there hobby it does let itself down as cant have it remote. Will await with fingers crossed to the "Great news ahead" !
