ICOM PCR 1500/2500
« on: March 24, 2008, 03:38:09 PM »
I am thinking about purchasing one of these for my shack. I currently run a couple of Yupiteru VT 225's and a Lowe HF 150.

Does anybody have one of these and can they give me a quick heads up on the product. I am concerned that the 'noise' from the PC is going to interfere with the signal. I am looking for a supplier in the North East of England (Newcastle area) who has one up and running so I can have a look but am struggling.... hence the post.

It's either this or the AOR 8600MK2.

Cheers,
Bob

I have the ICR 1500, the same unit as the PCR-1500 but has the remote head and it works very well.  There is no noise from the PC leaking through to the unit, I'm sure you will be very happy with it, further more the software uses very little of the PC resources and therefore no impact on the ARB.  Unless you really need the dual receive facilities of the 2500 save the money and buy an antenna instead.

purchased my IC-R1500 from Martin Lynch & Sons, always very helpful and can be trusted if you want to mail order. I have used them for many years without any issues.
