Version 1.4 to start Beta Testing today

Good News. We have started beta testing of V1.4 today. Now the tests are reserved for our team only and as soon as we have corrected the first problems we will ask for more users to test it.

New for Version 1.4:
- Total use of SQLite technology - 50% less memory used;
- New Mylog Window - record received aircraft and flights separately;
- Export MyLog to CSV
- Import MyLog Data from SBS1 SQB files
- Populate feature
- New Logos - now with more than 1200 airline logos

if the database is pre-populated how does the import of sbs sqb file work ?
Does it overwrite your data or add to it ??

It imports received Aircraft/Flights from SQB files, not the complete aircraft database as we believe it is not needed. This way you will not lose all the aircraft/flights received using SBS-1.

I thought the whole idea was to allow users of both units to keep 1 dataset and therefore the data would be consistent with both. Your data, however good you feel it is dosent update when, for example an American aircraft changed hands and a new aircraft takes up the reg marks and the hex code. So looks like those with both units will have to update 2 databases.
Personally I'm very dissapointed because this is what I was holding out for and assumed what was being implemented.
I think if this is the case you've missed a great chance to have the best product out there and will miss out on sales to sbs users looking for a very neat compact unit which is excellent for travelling with.

That is easy to implement. It is impossible to have one main database that is accessed by both RadarBox and SBS-1. But it is possible for RadarBox to have its own database and, when no details are available for a specific aircraft, it gets them from the SBS-1 Database. Is this what you are looking for?

Why don't you users press Kinetic to have a main unique database which format would be agreeded between us and them and which could be accessed in real-time by both applications? This is easy to implement and could be used as a standard. The only objective is for our users to be happy with a unique format/database. In other words there would be an external SBS-1 and RadarBox database file, accessible by both applications with aircraft details, log details, etc.

Opinions are welcome.

I realise you cant have one database for both but want to convert/import one..the master if you like into the other unit. Basically I've worked hard to get my data correct and the data held in radarbox at present and with Ver1.4 will have mistakes/miscodes etc All I wanted was to start with the same data in both units and have traded emails with Andre Brandao,including sending my SQB file for you guys to play with, and said exactly that.
Its not a case of even involving Kinetics because the database should be down to each user and how he/she wishes to update the info and so a central database would be the wrong way to go especially if it needed internet access at all times to get an update.

After analyzing in detail your question I confirm that V1.4 does import the SQB aircraft and flight tables into RadarBox databases.

Its in beta at the moment internally so we should have some feedback by the end of next week. If all goes well it should be out for a xmas present :)
