Antennae - Back to the roots

Hi Peolpe.

I worked for awhile in doing several high antenae with ecxellent results.
Now I needed one with normal gain sice it will be used in a place with no more than 3 meters long coax.
Based on several experiences from other peolpe on this forum, that used RB out of the box with supplied ground plane disk, the idea was why not to "clone" the rod of out the box and mount it soldered to a BNC female conector ?
That is just what I did and used 40 mm PVC pipe and caps to avoid moisture and wather.
For ground plane I used an inexpensive 16 cm diameter aluminium pizza tray and paited it.
I tested inside my house near to the window and noticed that :
1- From 15° to 90° is direct received signal
2- Disresgard 182° spike
3- From 210° to 215° reflected signal from a very near building signal
4- From 280° to 15° signal received trough the wall

Follows BNC connector area details, where I used two pop rivets to mantain all together.
Between the groun plane and the caps I used silicon glue to seal.
I need only to seal the caps after the final testing.
Used 3 meters of RGC-58 since here in this case, signal loss is not an issue.
Very simple, very cheap, very easy to construct and works fine

Hi People,

Finally this week it was possible to install RB + Ubox at the top of a buildind in a sealed box.
I "capture" the RB USB trough a Ubox, trough internet.
Polar diagram follows.
Notice that between 215° to 275° there is a total lack of signal and it is due to a very near building (higer than mine) killing all the sight to this angle.
I think that it achieves the purpose of the project.

Reading your various posts with much interest, I would like say thanks for your
contributions regarding evaluating and building home-brew antennas,
and also for the number of accompaniing pictures thereof.
Good to see other's ideas RF-wise or mechanically which one may want to follow,
e.g. the pop-up rivets at 4-hole flange chassis sockets, whether BNC- or N-type,
they are useful parts for all kinds of antenna base.
These sockets are my favorites since long especially together with some wire coathangers
for lightweight traveling to individually cut elements just as needed.

Please continue to post your "1090-projects" as convenient.
