"Network flights" vs "My flights"
« on: May 09, 2009, 08:54:54 AM »
Ok, here's a weird thing.

I'm in Sydney - Oz.

I'll lay odds I am the only one around here with a radarbox.

On "my flights" I have a flight.  NO POSITION data.

But on the screen I see a plane taking off.
Flight JST 625

BUT!  If I go to network flights, I get position information.

Errrr, how?

Also, because there are only a few flights I have maybe only ONE flight in "my flights" and heaps in "network flights".  I also have the filters set in that.  (Well kind of.)

I can't keep the "My flights" open.  Every time I go to the screen, the list changes to "network flights"

Now the custom filter for network flights is:
Registration <> (Blank)
That is the only way I seem to be able to get all the flights back in the list.
"My flights" has no custom filter values set.

MAYBE, because another user in Australia has better reception of that aircraft and so is receiving position data, whereas you maybe don't have good enough reception of that aircraft.  There are others in Australia - see http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/network.php

Thanks for that link.

I was trying to find that.

Well the plane - which is now ok on "my flights" was "just out my window" so I hope I have coverage.

;)

Now, back to that link.  Yeah, been there, but I can't see anyone when I zoom in on Oz.

I am online now too BTW - well obviously.  And have radarbox active too.

I see 2 flags in Australia.

If you're seeing networked flights over Australia, then there's someone else online.  Network flights have an "*" in their tag.  I'm not on the network, so can't see for myself.

I don't understand what you mean by a * in their tag.

I open the "network flights" and I would guess that all of them are networked.

On the MAP, any network aircraft have an "*" in the flight tag, as long as you have that option turned ON in preferences.  The map shows both your local aircraft and networked aircraft, and puts the "*" in the aircraft tag to show which are networked.
