REPLACEMENT RB ANTENNA

Hello all.

Does anyone know if you can buy the antenna that comes with RB on its own.
It crossed my mind today that if I break or lose the antenna, what would I do ??

There are probably a few RB users who have external aerials and who never intend to leave the house with their box. They might be happy to sell you their "standard" aerial when you need one.

Many thanks for all your ideas and suggestions.

Is there any harm with dismantling the equipment and taking out with me - IE I am completely disconnecting the aerial from the box as I didnt want to put a strain on the connectors.

Also unplugging the USB and unscrewing the twig from the antenna base.

Everything is done very carefully but I worry that I will wear out the connectors / plugs.

£400 was a lot of money for me to spend !!!

What do you guys do????

Daf,

You are right to disconnect everything from the box, but there's no need to dismantle the antenna. I regularly take mine out with the laptop and I just loop the cable and stick it in an inside pocket of the laptop bag.

Don't worry about wearing out the connectors but do be careful not to overtighten the antenna connector.

I use a used up cardboard roll from alufoil and close both ends with, god knows what the English name for it is but you know those small candles most people use which are encased in a very light metal container, I just bend them to fit the end of the cardboard tube...works a treat.

Hi Hamish, I think you're referring to tea lights and night lights, Indian Restaurants use them as dish heaters!
