We bought an Acer 15.4" Acer Aspire Gemstone 5920 with Intel DC T7300 processor running at 2 Ghz with 2 Gig RAM Christmas 2007 from Tescos, on Special Offer £499 with Vista, very good display, performance and value in our experience.   We have no problems at all with Vista, although it does seem very CPU and memory hungry - RB runs with it fine.   Worst thing with Vista is constantly prompting for permission to do this, that or the other, but apparently if you press F8 as it starts up, this can be disabled.
ANRB :  AOR AR8000 : Icom R-7000 : Icom IC-R9000 : JRC NRD-545 : OptoElectronics Digital Scout and OptoLinx Interface; Realistic Pro-2005 : UBC 800XLT - listed in alphabetical order, not cost, preference, performance or entertainment value!

Have a look for the TweakUAC utility.

No problems running Radarbox on Vista here.  See previous advise in this thread - http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=2051.msg16836#msg16836
