Airport names/identifiers
« on: January 25, 2009, 06:27:24 PM »
I'm a bit mystified as to how airports are selected for viewing. I tick the the "hide small aiports" box but the rest seem to appear on a very random basis.

My currrent page covers more or less Hull to Gatwick/Southend to Cardiff and the airports displayed include:

Leicester but not EMA
Wolverhampton but not Birmingham
Cambridge but not Stansted
Hawarden but not Manchester
Biggin Hill but not Heathrow

Seems all a bit bizarre to me. Is there a way of prioritising airports displayed?

I think it's pretty random.  To be honest, after a while you'll probably know where each airport is located, and turn the labels off.  The airport icons should all display.

The hide small airports function does not work too well outside the US as we only have small airports flags fully for the US.

Thanks for coming back Airnav Support.

I think it's reasonable to expect the Major International and Regional Airports (Air Bases?) to appear on all settings.

Might be something for someone to tinker with on a wet afternoon.

You mean someone to tinker with 50,000 world airports :)

Split them up by country, and then we'll get around to the less popular places eventually :)

Thank you Fenris - saved me saying it.

Just my opinion that the dozen or so main airports should be default. It's more a question of show the main airports rather than don't show the small ones!!!!
