As a newbie I have been following the discussion about BNC to SMA adaptors. Today I went to my local Maplin store to buy a suitable adaptor, the only item they stock in this range - Part No: RS85G - is not suitable as the SMA part of the item is reversed in that the centre contact is a socket not a pin the outer contact is a nut which is the correct configuration.
I can't find a supplier in this country. Any suggestion please.
I'm surprised, as the description is correct. Also, only the male part of an SMA connector has the "nut" on it, the female part is just threaded - as on the back of the RadarBox hardware. Also, the Maplin FAQ says:
Q) Is this type of connector suitable for a Icom IC-R5 scanner - K Taylor
A) Yes it is.
And my adaptor fits my Icom scanner and my Yaesu handheld with SMA connectors too!
Are you sure that you were looking at the right end :-)
The link below goes to the Maplin RS85G part.
