Registration in RB 2009
« on: September 12, 2008, 08:37:58 AM »
Hi Airnav

I just got round to downloading the new version of Radarbox and it is great. One observation though, is on the previous version, the registration field was more up to date, for example all the newish Flybe DHC-8 G-EC registered were showing the registration, but on the new version none of them seem to appear and I have to keep decosding the mode S.

How often do updates come over, or do I have to download them from somewhere

Thanks Paul

Did you do a new full install of RadarBox 2009, or did you do an upgrade.

It you did a full install, then you might want to copy your main database file from the old installation to the new one.  This is named NavData.db3

In answer to your question, the auto-populate function works whenever you are connected to the Internet.  If the Flybe aircraft were in your old database, then these would have been auto-populated.  The new database hasn't auto-populated yet, but it should do as you pick the aircraft up.

If auto-populate isn't working, have you granted permission for RB to access the AirNav server through your firewall.  As this is a "new" program as far as your PC is concerned, permission is needed.

Hi Allocator

Yes I did do a full install. I have since deleted all the old files etc for the previous version. When loading the new version it did ask to allow internet access and I said yes, is there a way for me to try and grant access again?

Thanks Paul

Paul,

If you granted Internet access when you installed, then it should be OK.  It depends what firewall you are using as to how it is set up to allow access.

When you get the next Flybe in the list, click on the aircraft line and watch to see if the details get filled in.  Look at the bottom right of the RB screen to see if the photos are being downloaded - if they are, then RB is accessing the Internet OK.

When you say you are decoding the Mode S, what do you mean?

Auto-populate will work automatically as long as RB is connected to the Internet.
