Alerts...
« on: August 25, 2008, 05:08:34 PM »
Ive had RB for a while now, and going to set up a few alerts for the first time...

Im very interested in setting up the 7700 sqwark alert. Ive typed into the sqwark box 7700 and also asked for it to email an address.
Where can I save the alert and set up a new one? There doesnt seem to be an option to click 'ok' or 'apply'?

Also, I want the 7700 alert to be active for 'Network' Flights, but I rarely download from the network as I am only really interested in the flights I can receive myself. - Will the Network alert still work?

Thanks

James

Am I right in thinking that the different criteria in the Alert Box Window, acts as OR instead of AND?

Your first alert has been setup, that's all you need to do. Tick the boxes that you like and enter the criteria. There is no apply or ok box, once they are entered or ticked its saved.

The criteria acts as or.

Tick the "Activate alerts for network Flights" and the criteria you have entered which is on squawk which check your local and network flights.

Hope that helps.

Ok thats cool - I initially thought that if I also checked the registration criteria and typed in the registration of my friends plane, that id ONLY get an alert if he was on radar and also sqwarking 7700 hehe!

Ok, seems to be working fine.

How do I seperate the different registrations / sqwarks that I want to look out for?

Just enter different items on each line - for example:

And no, AFAIK there's no way of making an alert conditional on multiple fields.

Cheers Tarbat, good to see what someone elses looks like!

Easy enough to put a new criteria on a new line, simple!

*Wonders what aircraft Tarbat is alerted for!*

AirNav - Are there any plans to be alerted by Text Message? Would be very interesting to have a text to each 7700!

Not a present, unfourtanely there isn't a free service to send out text messages in the UK and the compications of sending txts for other countries are endless.

hehe sure!
I think I may set up a new email address dedicated to RB, and will then be able to check using GPRS on my phone.

How about an additional option of having alerts written out to a text file?

Would be good if the output included all of the details that appear in the pop-up box rather than the basic alert 'Received Squawk: 7700' which appears within the Alert Log within RB.

Airnav, noticed a small glitch...

I have typed a few different registrations in the alert box, and then deleted a few too, and in the process I seem to of got RB alerting me each time an aircraft is picked up with the registration being blank...after hitting the delete button below the registrations I have, seems of fixed the problem, but wasnt obvious at first.
