Hi All

Thought i join as i currently use a SBS-1 unit but having had this unit for nearly a year i am a bit disappointed. So i am looking into buying a AirNav unit and would like to know some info about it. Firstly am i assuming this will pick up Military and Helicopter traffic like the SBS and also do i need to have any 3rd party applications to use it?

Kind Regards

Robin

Hi Robin,

The post below will give you advantages of RadarBox over SBS:

Yes it will pick up Military and Helli traffic like the SBS.

You won't need any 3rd party applications, as soon as you install RadarBox 2008 you are good to go and will see much more information than SBS and not to mention network flights :)

Just to reiterate what Airnav support said.  I switched from an SBS-1 to a Radarbox 5 months ago.  Exactly the same coverage as an SBS-1, the same aircraft, etc.  The big difference is that you need no addons.  And the added bonus of upwards of 1000 aircraft shared over the Airnav network.

There are things that you can download for Radarbox.  For example, new outlines for a hi-res coastline and detailed airport layouts.  And some like to add new country flags and airline logos.

Hi Rob,

If you browse through the FAQ's, these will help.  Some of the information you will of course be familiar with, but there's lots of other stuff too:

In the end I just got disillusioned by the lack of development from Kinetic and the failure to deliver MapModeS - then you'll know that if you read all my posts on the other forum!

All the best

Thanks for your help - Will be purchasing mine at the end of the month :o) Having had the SBS for nearly a year with the various add ons i am disappointed by the support from kinetic and that i can only pick up on a good day 75 aircraft!!! even though i am 7 miles west of Heathrow!!!

We are sure you will like RadarBox. As usually we will be here for any help/question/suggestion. Being 7 miles from Heathrow you are on one of the best places in the world to use RadarBox (in my personal opinion the best :-) ).

I don't yet own either system but have decided the RadarBox is best for me and I am not trying to put you off but surely if you can 'only' pick up 75 aircraft live on the SBS-1 then you would 'only' pick up a similar amount on the RadarBox?

As tarbat says above 'Exactly the same coverage as an SBS-1, the same aircraft, etc.'

Obviously there will be many more available via the network...

If I were you in readiness for the arrival of the RadarBox I would also be looking into what antenna you have, where is it mounted and what the cable & connections are like?
