rbfeeder does not restart automatically
« on: July 20, 2019, 12:02:01 AM »
I recently had a home network outage due to a breaker popping.

Once I returned home from work and corrected this issue all of the other feeders I have began feeding again except rbfeeder.
I had to open a CLI and issue a "sudo systemctl restart rbfeeder" for it to begin feeding again.

I'd like to not have to remember to do this if I ever have to reboot the Pi again.

Thanks in advance.

(1) This possibly may be only one time occurance and may not recur.  To check, reboot pi
sudo reboot

After reboot check status
sudo systemctl status rbfeeder

If it is running, then it was only one time occurance.

(2) Why you are using CLI? Install PuTTY on your Desktop/Laptop and SSH to the RPi, and give commands from your Desktop/Laptop.

So, CLI was the wrong terminology to use.

I'm using PuTTY on my PC or Terminal on my Mac.

So, things were running fine and I issued the sudo reboot and now it will not come back up at all so it looks like the CD card might be corrupted again.

This is getting frustrating. Everything will run great for a week or maybe 2 and then things just crash all the sudden for no explained reason.

If it is only rbfeeder which is giving trouble, then may be some of its file got corrupted. In this case purge the current install and then reinstall

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get purge rbfeeder

sudo apt-get install rbfeeder

After reinstallation, you will have to add the key again as purging removes all configuration.

Maybe your power supply isn't adequate?

Could also be a bad sd-card.

@ wiedehopf

I had a Raspberry Pi 3 B 1.2 running on a brand new 16GB SD card with an official Raspberry Pi power supply. I'm going to guess it had been running about 30 days or so until this hiccup.

I also had a Pi Zero running but I was not using an official psu.

I could pull the dump1090 webpage from both of them right up until the moment I rebooted them.

After that, neither one would come back up.

Maybe some updates didn't work?

Just reimage with the new Raspbian Buster Lite.
Hope for the best ;)

Your router assigns Dynamic or Static IP? If dynamic, rebooting/power turn on/off may result in a different local IP. Using old local IP will then not pull the dump1090 map.

You can login to your router and find IP address. Alternatively use IP address finders listed below:
