Ground Transmitters showing altitude....any ideas?

Lately I have been getting 4 "Ground Transmitters" showing up, they seem to report random altitudes which change frequently...You would think a ground transmitter would be a vehicle or some other stationary beacon/tower etc??? Does anyone know for sure what a ground transmitter could be?

Hi Jason,
I wouldn't worry much about this. They quite often show altitudes but its recommended about 60-70,000 ft so that they don't give problems with TCAS conflicts.

Thanks for that Alan..I was just curious as to what a "Ground Transmitter" is......I guess it could be many different things...

Any thing from an ILS installation to a radar system, to any type of vehicle. Unless you are there to see it, it is hard to differentiate between a vehicle and a ground installation
