Hello
I already tried what you said but the update manager tells me there is no better version available...
It seems the ftdibus.sys file is missing ???

It's in the i386 directory in the Drivers Directory.

Look at the file name update is looking for, you may have to browse within the Drivers directory, but all the files are there :-)

I managed to update the driver but things are still strange
When I look in the Radarbox properties, it says that the driver version is still 2.0.0.0 from 2006 from Primetec. However when I click on the driver details it says that it is 2.04.00 version from FTDI copyright 2000-2007 ??? and firmware version field is still empty ...

I don't think that you are there yet!

When I've got some time, I'll go through this step by step.

OK, I'll go through the USB Driver install in slow time - although bear in mind that I already have the latest driver installed, so you may see something slightly different.

Go to the Device Manger by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties.  Open the Hardware tab.

Click Device Manager and click the Universal Serial Bus controllers section to expand it.  If you have any RadarBox drivers installed at present, you will see AirNav RadarBox at the top of the list.

Right click AirNav RadarBox in the USB controllers list and select Properties. Click the Driver tab.  You will see the current driver version - you are looking for version 2.2.4.0 as shown here.

If you need to update the driver, click Update to bring up the window shown below.  Select "No, not at this time" - this is very important - click Next

Select "Install from a specific location (Advanced)" Click Next

Select "Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install".  Click Next.

Don't worry too much about what appears in this window in the Model section - you might see something different.  You are not going to select a model, you are going to click "Have Disk"

When you get the Install from Disk window as shown below, click the Browse button and browse to the following directory:

C/:Program Files/AirNav Systems/AirNav RadarBox 2008/Drivers

and select the ftdibus.inf and click OK to return to the Install from Disk window.  Click OK again to move on.

If you get the window below, then click on AirNav RadarBox in the Model window to highlight it and click Next.  This should complete the driver installation.

Note: If you do not get the last window show above, but get another Install from Disk window with the browse button, or you get a message saying file not found, take a note of the file that the install routine is looking for.  You may need to browse for 3 files, one by one.  They will all be in the Drivers directory, or in Drivers/i386.

If you just can't find the file manually, leave the Install from Disk window showing and use Windows search to find where the file is.  Then you can browse to that file in the Install from Disk window.

OK, give that a try and see what happens.

Little success. Thanks for your help. (much better than official support btw)
I will try to uninstall everything before changing the firmware as recommended but  not strongly by the support even though I provided my S/N

Not sure what you mean, the details you provide to support via email were very sketchy and when asked to follow the support procedure to upgrade (including firmware).

Anyhow both ways via support email or the forum we and other RadarBox customers are here to help.

It is probably  my understanding of English language which is faulty but it appeared to me you were not sure I should do the firmware upgrade whereas for me you should have all the info with my S/N to be 100% positive (or not). Re-reading your text may mean that what  you are cautious about is that  I follow properly the step by step instructions of the web page for the firmware upgrade.

If your RadarBox came with Version 1.3 on the CD you do NOT need to install any firmware upgrade as you already have the latest one. All you need to do is download version 1.5 and install.

If you RadarBox came with Version 1 or 1.1 or 1.2 then you will need upgrade to 1.3 as mentioned on the RadarBox support page which does have steps on upgrading your firmware.

If as some customers have done, ignored what is written on the support page and upgraded the firmware even if though they already have the latest version they run the risk of ruining there RadarBox by corrupting the firmware.

I must have been lucky. I am not that computer literate but managed to upgrade from 1.1 through the firmware upgrades to the current version. None of it was as easy as I would have expected, especially the firmware upgrade - which I also struggled with at the time. I have said before that there needs to be a better way to do the firmware or at least for it to be more robust to having users with variable abililites (and language understanding) to be able to do it successfully. To tell them that if they get it wrong they risk ruining their expensive radarboxes is not helpful ! :-(

Nowadays this is not an issue as 1.3 RadarBox have been selling since October 2007.

There are only a few left on the shelf and a few people left who haven't upgraded.

The main issue now is people not reading and upgrading the firmware again.

my CD is ANRB10.exe so I guess I have a v1.0 which took some dust on the shelf!!
By the way, yesterday I uninstalled everything s:w, USB drivers and even pass through cracpcleaner. I then reinstalled everything as written (just have a few alert boxes saying I had already a new version of the USB driver ftdixx... which I kept) and miracle I got my first two tracks (a strange one from a German Pilatus with no position info and a clean one from SNBA which I followed till final approach to Dakar).
Now I am a bit afraid of doing the firmware update...

Hello steveb25
thank to you all (including support) for your help, the connector was ok. In my case it was really a firmware issue. I now see version 1.01.2 in the about/help window (and 2.2.4 in the USB driver one) and see several aircraft. See GOOY/Dakar on the network, not much traffic at this moment (one or two) but I will leave it on tonight when the traffic rises between 2100Z and 0200Z.
Cheers
