Unusual Activity over South West England
« on: April 02, 2012, 02:13:09 PM »
Hi.

A question for those who have been on RadarBox for a few years.

There seems to be a lot of Scandanavian traffic over South West England today. Is this unusual or the start of the summer schedule.

Regards

Wouldnt think it is unusual Keith,  I see them often here in Scotland transiting from Scandanavia down the Irish Sea and onwards to the Canaries.  I would suggest traffic picking up taking sun worshippers to and from holiday.

Guys.

Think it's due to the French ATC strike thats on until the 4th April. Had TAP flights routing from SAM to DVR with destinations (if RB can be believed) of GVA BRU and FRA. Apparently this dispute is about centalising the flow control at enroute centres and the airfields just do the TWR freq and ground work just like NATS do here in the UK.

Had an interesting route on a Pullmanair B744 flight into LGW this evening. RB was showing it as Biggin Hill to Jersey!!!

Thanks tommyg, that would make more sense considering the amount of traffic routing east and west through the GIBSO area.

Pity it's only on until the 4th.

Keith.

Keith.

There are plans for more stoppages so it will be interesting for you in the coming weeks.

I have an alert set up for aircraft within 15 miles of my location. Today I have recorded in excess of 80 aircraft.
All above almost total cloud cover, how frustrating is that!
