From and To
« on: December 23, 2011, 08:26:22 AM »
Hi Guys,

How come the from and to arn't always right as in, today I picked up a delta clearly going into LHR yet it said it was going from las vegas to New York. This happens quite frequently and I was wondering if there was a way to get past this,

Thanks,
Jamie

If you want fix this immediately, you have to amend this by hand by using the database explorer. Nevertheless Airnav is working on mechanisms to gain correct routing information from all users with boxes close to airports, who have their boxes running with data-sharing switched on. These new routines have already delivered an improvement to the correctness of route information (From & To & VIA), but it's still a quite long way until they are close to be perfect.

Additionally there are several other reasons for false route informations, like diversions,  change of routings of the used flight id, human error, weak or no radarbox coverage on one or both ends of a flight, old or outdated data in your Navdatabase, old and/or outdated data in database on Airnav Servers and finally the not uncommon glitches in Software...

Do you have Route Auto-populate switched on? This will fix some of the errors.

If you are computer literate you could always add a full list of routes to you database that is more up to date.
Routes data can be found here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PP-logs-and-routes/ and a handy utility here http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=6631.0

The easiest way to get new routing information to the navdatabase is to delete the false entry from the local database and hope, that -if auto population is switched on- the new routing information gathered from the airnav-server is more correct.

How to delete:

Go to menu File and click on sub-menu Database Explorer
Under "Select Table" navigate to "routes"
Look up the flight id, which contains the false routing information.
Click on that flight id and hit "Delete Record"
After this the routing is wiped from the database and would be auto-populated (if activated) next time an airframe with the previously deleted flight id is received again.

Other manipulation to the database by using tools stated by chris11 could end in destroyed database files if you not 100% sure / firm in handling of this tools. If you want to give them a chance, please use copies for your first walking attempts.
