Power Cut
« on: January 07, 2010, 11:53:07 AM »
Hi

Yesterday I had a power cut.  When the power came back I restarted the RB to find my log had lost all aircraft after 18 Dec 09.  I run RB 24/7.  Is this normal?

It would probably loose any new entries since the last controlled shut-down. I only run daily but if mine crashes it looses all data since start-up

Hi,
If you would like to keep your log in the event of a power cut it might be worth investing in a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply).  It should keep it running for a few minutes to give you time to do a controlled shut down or it might be able to be programmed to shut down for you if you are not home. Even if it is just a minute or two interruption it would give you continuous service. We use a laptop so this isn't an issue for us but this would be an option for a desk top.

They are fairly pricey but if keeping a log is important to you then it may be worth the investment.  Search Google if you are interested as you get different power ratings and running times.

Hi again

Another option would be for Airnav to add something to their next update to save the log automatically every 15 minutes or so if this was possible.
