Next Project Request ... TrainTrax?
« on: October 02, 2009, 02:55:32 PM »
AirNav:

For your next project, I respectfully request "TrainTrax"!  You've got my aviation hobby covered well ... now my railroad hobby could use some expert assistance.  Here's a link to get you started.

Thanks!  :)

Unfortunately, it's not possible to track trains using this system in the UK, as they don't have it fitted as far as I know.

Still doesn't work for UK trains though :-(

TrainPlotter decodes, displays and plots radio data transmissions between Trains and Controllers coded in accordance with UIC (INTERNATIONAL UNION OF RAILWAYS) protocol UIC 751-3 in the 460 MHz band, as used in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands and Spain.

To be direct we have in our mind a Satellite Tracking application (we've always had this idea). Anyway so much work with RadarBox + ShipTrax + FlightWatch that it will be virtually impossible to develop it during the next year.

Hi There,
Please can you tell me what 'flight watch' is about?
Thanks

It is an integrated software that shows flights from:
- FAA ASDI (FAA Radar System);
- RadarBox
- RadarBox Network
- ACARS
- HFDL
- Flight Plans

It can virtually track all flights in the world. Lots of work to finish it yet.

Hmm, interesting idea, but sadly "TrainTrax" will never happen in the UK

Being a Signaller myself on the railway for Network Rail, the only way I can see how to track trains would be via the developing GSM-R system, to which access to this information by third-parties would never be allowed/happen.

Airnav. Concentrate on what you do best. Air Flight tracking :) Traintrax and ShipTrax are separate issues that should be raised elsewhere!

ShipTrax is not a separate issue. It will be the most successful ship tracking application available. :-)
