First trip out for Radar Box
« on: June 15, 2009, 12:24:15 PM »
Took my RB out for its first trip outside MAN this weekend.

We stayed at the Rennaissance Hotel @ LHR. (myself and partner, not myself and RB !)

In the hotel room , behind double glazed windows had on avarage 80 in My flights.

However on Sunday @ 3 pm when in visitors centre car park, . arrivals went onto Southerly runway, I set RB up and was getting approx between 160-200 in my flights.

Excellent , never seen this many before , only 80 max in MAN.

The only problem with RB is that it makes you a lazy plane spotter , just sit there , no need to look through bins, straining of eyes through heat haze.

Its great isnt it !!

Keep up the great work Air Nav, cant wait for V3.0 is sounds FAB.

Cheers

Phil

Proud owner of an RB but not a number cruncher these days, and was thinking just the same re the hard work it used to be in the old days !
Shouldn't you have the bins on them anyway to check the integrity of all this data flying about in cyberspace?

Hi Pat

The idea of a special carrying case has come up before, but nobody was prepared to pay the price that was necessary to make it a commercial proposition. A jiffy bag was the best alternative suggestion!

Isn't Oxford St surrounded by buildings on all sides?

I think you may have to find somewhere with a little open space.

A VHS cassette box makes an ideal case for the RB.

Very ingenious, now just need to find 3,000+ clear VHS cases.

Can feel my 2nd million £ coming on ;-)
