Question about updating Aircraft database.
« on: May 15, 2009, 07:39:47 AM »
I've  noticed that there are often codes with no details in the log ...

....obviously  this is where updating comes in -  so "Tools/Populate " but it doesn't seem to  fill these blank spots(altho this AM it stated that it was  getting 37 updates).

OK- I've worked out how to manually edit the data base with data retrieved (one at a a time)  from LibhomeRadar.....

However that is longwinded - yesterday for instance there were about 50 unknowns out of 1400+ logged....

So - can it be updated in any other way - by importing the data automatically from  somewhere online.

Also can someone confirm that "manual" updates don't show in the log files until a restart?

OK - just ignore most  of the above- I've realised that turning off Preferences/Radar Box/Photo Options/Download A/c photo  apparently seems to inhibit updating of the database.

Still curious about the last two points above.

Yes it can.  I use SQLite Maestro once a week to check/correct the aircraft data in Navdata.db3, using GAS as a reliable source.  More details at http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=1489.msg11716#msg11716

Does this also happen if just one photo is downloaded?

OK - left it for a couple of hours with "one photo" selected - as far as I can tell it continues to update ..it is only when upload photos is totally deselected that the info flow stops as well
