PC operating advice please......
« on: February 11, 2009, 03:43:33 PM »
I want to save some hard drive space but before I jump in with both feet can anyone please advise whether it's OK to move the Airnav RB program from its C/prog.files/airnav folder location directly to a removable 4gb memory stick?
Or do I have to uninstall and re-install to new location?
I also hope this would allow me to use the prog. on both laptop and desktop PC?

(All this assuming the program works OK from a plug in drive?)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bratters

It's extremely unlikely that the RB program will run from a USB drive - you will need to install the program again on the other computer - there's no harm in having copies on different computers - you don't need to uninstall anything if you don't want to.

You'll be able to install the program from the CD (if it's an RB 2009 CD) or download the program from the AirNav site - you can copy the downloaded file to a memory stick and from there to other computers for installation.

The only minor problem with running on two computers is that the NavData database and the MyLog database will be out of synch with each other. You can copy those files onto the memory stick for transfer if you want to keep the computers synchronised.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that Rod. I assume "extremely unlikely" means "no it won't" which whilst it doesn't help my hard disk clearance does at least save me a fruitless exercise.

John - you're right - it's so unlikely that it really isn't worth trying!
