Lost Radar box network and aerial question

I got my rb two days ago and until today everything functioned normally. Today however the network feature stopped working. It is shown as being connected to the network and the box to allow sharing is connected. It counts down and every 30 seconds updates but no aircraft are displayed, the tab showing network traffic shows the number of aircraft as zero, meanwhile the hardware functions correctly. Anybody know what the problem is? Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Whilst I am here i was wondering about an aerial, I am using the original aerial currently but inbounds and outbounds to edinburgh are disappearing and reappearing as I loose signal and regain it. I am only about 6 or 7 miles from the airport. I cannot put an aerial outside or in my loft and was wondering if anybody knew of this was a good aerial - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29672

I have a discone up on my chimney. It has a really good 360 o view.

If I connect my Radarbox to it, I get a lot fewer flights than with the AirNav antenna which is on shelf in the bedroom.

So, I think that an antenna designed for 1090 MHz will give a much better performance than a general purpose antenna.

Thanks for your help. Do you know of any good aerials that could sit indoors and would improve performance over the RB antenna, ie do you know of any antennas designed for 1090MHz that will boost performance without being outside or in the loft. Currently my rb antenna is upstairs at a window and provides a good range (apart from the intermittent signals from inbounds and outbounds) but i would like to improve this.

I am a convert from SBS.  The software is a huge improvement, and the network is tremendous (well not at the moment...) but the range that I am getting from the standard system is a huge disappointing.  My stndard SBS is giving 120 nmiles range and 20-30 contacts.  My RB is giving 60 nmiles and 6-9 contacts.  The antenna are located next to each other.

I am intrigued to know whether the problem is hardware or software.  Has anyone tried (using a suitable adapter) the standard SBS antenna with the RB?  Does that improve the range?

I am somewhat disappointed with this reduction in contacts and range to be honest - I really doen't want to have to go down the roof mounted antenna route just to get back to where I was with the SBS.

I use both the SBS-1 internal antenna and the standard RB antenna and I see no difference in the performance of the two.  I have to use an adaptor to use the SBS-1 antenna with RB.

My normal antenna when at home is my old SBS-1 BS1100 external antenna, and again, both the SBS-1 and RB produce almost identical results using this antenna.

Maybe you have a duff RB antenna?  Can toy test the SBS-1 antenna on the RB - you'll need the adaptor from Maplin.
