A380 to visit the North West
« on: July 10, 2008, 10:18:48 AM »
It has been reported that the Airbus A380 is to visit Manchester Airport for the first time this Saturday.  It is expected to land at Manchester at 13:20 and then head for Liverpool.

So keep your RB eyes peeled, it will be interesting to see which airframe they use for this excursion.

Probably msn 004 - the one that is rumoured to be at RIAT this weekend and at Farnborough the following week.

A380 also Displaying at the Fairford RIAT on Saturday at around noon.  Looks like it could be an interesting weekend for RB viewing, and then there is Farnborough next weekend, so more intersting aircraft to look out for.

Rod,

I notice from the screenshot you have the names of the airports/airfields displayed under the ICAO code how do you do that ?

Christian

Map > Aviation Signs > Station Labels and tick Identifier and Name

You also need to have Airports selected On

Map > Aviation Signs > Airport

You can access these settings via the buttons on the menu bar, but it's easier to explain using the Map options.

I've just seen on BBC news that the Fairford show on Saturday has been cancelled, and they've got doubts about Sunday - just too much rain for the car parks to take.

Ah well, I wasn't planning on going this year anyway. Great shame, though.

I've just been following the A388 doing a flypast at Hawarden, and then heading back down south - don't know if it did visit Manchester.

Saw it on the box in Winchester - knew where it was going so drove to Farnborough in time to watch it arrive back - excellent couple of hours spent with the radarbox in the car tracking arrivals to Farnborough.  (would rather have been at RIAT though - Sunday show is also cancelled)

Allocator - the airport names never stay on even when the map is saved - is this a bug (or more likely I am doing something wrong)

This problem has been reported before - hope it's going to be fixed in 1.6 - out sometime soon, we hope!
