This is a hobby that i dip in and out off, so not up to date with everything, so would anyone out there know what the latest Version is please I'm having great difficulty in a stable reading, keeps dropping out, [non internet, local stuff] the one i am using is Ver  6.01.001. thanks.

That version should work without any issues.  You should have no issues with it dropping out especially if you are not on the network as, as you say its local myflights only.

What receiver are you using, is it connected by a USB cable if so it may be defective and needing replaced
