Title: RadarBox installation woes - device cannot start
Post by: Gnasher on March 07, 2016, 03:12:33 PM
I've been trying to get a RadarBox working (on numerous laptops running Win7 through to Win10) and am constantly getting errors stating "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" and the best indications I can get from the RadarBox is the blue LED flashing 1PPS (which shows the RadarBox drawing power but not connected) and the AirNav RadarBox shows under Device Manager (albeit with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle).

I've tried the 32 bit and 64 bit drivers linked on the website and ensured I have disabled unsigned drivers etc. (pretty much all the tips given on this forum) with no success.

Anybody hazard a guess what's up? Is my RadarBox knackered? I am unsure of it's origin prior to me inheriting it and am unable to quiz it's previous owner.

Cheers in advance, there's a virtual beer in it for some help lol!

What software version are you using and I will talk you through Windows 7 and can you advise whether you are using a 32 or 64 bit computer for that OS.  Windows 7 does not require driver signing.  The exclamation mark in device manager shows that your issue is driver related.

Also do you have the correct log in details for the unit.

Hi Alan,

Software version:- 2.01 (from the installation disc)
Windows version:- Win7 64bit
Drivers:- Can't tell, but the latest 64bit drivers from the website (Folder name is ANRB64bitDrivers)
I do have the correct login details (from the activation code sticker on the software CD cover)

Also, you are correct - the driver signing thing was a different laptop I was trying it on.

Ta again!

V2.01 probably wont work with 64 bit.

You would be better downloading v5.00.72 from here http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRB50072Setup.exe

Don't install to the program files location install to somewhere like c:\Airnav.

Also download and unzip the 64bit drivers from here
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/drivers/ANRB64bitDrivers.zip.  Create a folder on your computer and unzip the drivers into it.  Remember where it is as you will need to direct the installer to it later.

Go to Computer/Devices and Printers and you will see your Radarbox under unspecified, you may need to scroll down to see it.  Right click on it then click on Properties.

On the window that opens click on the Hardware tab/ Click on the Properties button.  On the new window click on Change Settings

On the new window click on Driver tab then Update Driver.

On the window that opens up click on Browse My computer for Driver Software.

On the window that opens browse you computer for the folder you unzipped your drivers too.  The press Next and the drivers will install and all should be good to go.  Unplug your USB cable then plug it in again if need be to finish the process.  Then exclamation mark should be gone and the software should start

Unfortunately it's not playing ball on my windows 7 machine.

I got (and used) the latest 64 bit drivers you linked to (it uses driver version 2.6.0.0 from 22/10/2009)

The latest version of AirNav RadarBox software (6.00) logged in with a proper activation code and the RadarBox software works fine. It's a standalone so I can't check network (air) traffic to see if that works.

I updated the driver for the RadarBox via device manager to no avail. Unplugged and replugged the box and I still can't get it to work.

I'll give it one last try on my windows 10 machine with the latest drivers (all drivers should work between windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10) and see if anything different happens.

Ta for your help so far though.

Tried the same on my win10 machine.

Installed on both machines into c:/airnav and have used the bcdedit commands in the command prompt. Still no joy. Getting a little frustrating now lol.

I suggest that you contact [email protected]

It may well be that the unit is defective as Win 7 with the 64 bit drivers should have no issues following the route I detailed.

Success on my Win10 machine. Perhaps I should have rebooted earlier.

Didn't think to do it and I have been reluctant to reboot my other laptop as it's HDD is encrypted (and it's a pain in the ass to reboot lol).

I'll give it another try with a reboot involved.

Many thanks indeed for your help with this.

For info. My Win10 stopped working when switching it on when back from holiday. When I started my computer I noticed it went through a Windows update. To cut a long story short this update must have b******d the drivers as when I followed the instructions to load the Win8.1 drivers the system is now working again. Had no problems for six months from updating to Win10.
