Is this new?
I don't like it.
How to get rid of them?
Thanks
Neil

Confirming behavior.
Additionally the linking to my boxes is failing, but flights received by them are shown.
Flights are disappering after a while.
Re-load of website is logging me out.
I asked airnav what's going on.
Ingo

Thanks Ingo, I get logged out each time as well. Let me know what they say.
Neil
P.S. Been with RB since the very early days - but don't view the forum anymore.
-
Neil,
Please confirm you have ads when you have ticked Hide Advertisements on Options/Maps.
Alan
-
Hi Alan
I could not find that option - I tried following instructions I found in the forum.
Neil
-
Alan, the hide ads button has definitely disappeared here too.
All flights are freeced as soon as I log in.

I don't know whats happening here. RB24 is working fine on both my computers. Options/Map gives the option to Hide Advertisements and I can toggle them off and on. Is it possible that the option is hidden behind the advertisement and you need to scroll down to see it?
Alan
-
Alan, I tested it on my 26'' Monitor. There is plenty of space between the "options" section and the advertisements. The whole "premium options" section is missing.
Ingo
-
On IE instead of using Favourites to access RB24 I used google to find it and have not got a different version of RB24 which doesn't have the Hide Advertisement option under Map/Options.
Using Chrome and IE appears to give two different versions. Chrome gives the option as detailed abut the one on IE doesn't. On the IE version I cannot get it to change Map Type for example but on Chrome it does everything expected. See the attached shots. I will contact Andre to find out what is happening.
Alan
-
Have you tried the account section in IE. Du you see your linked RB there?
Ingo
-
By the way: ther version you see in IE Igot in chrome and firefox too.
Ingo
-
In Chrome the linked info is there under Account in IE no. I am aware that a new website is under development and to me it looks like somehow the development page has somehow been uploaded to the internet. I have mailed Andre but I am aware that he is flying a lot just now so don't know his schedule to receive a reply.

I filed Andre and Sergio a full disfunction report yesterday. For me it seems, that the new and the old website had been mixed up somehow. I'm using an external program to wipe all the webdata of my browsers. Although they are set to clean themself on each exit the external program still finds a lot of data to clean. I presume, that if you would do this full cleaning with your chrome browser, you will get the same result as with the IE browser.

Thanks Ingo, we need to wait to hear from Andre.

All, There was a bug I introduced a few days ago attempting to fix a different problem with the zoom in/out control on the Google Map. This new bug was causing a variety of strange issues and may be the cause of some of the problems discussed in this thread. Could you guys do a full refresh (CTRL+reload) and see if you still have issues. I tested here on Firefox and Chrome but not I.E. (I'm on a Mac today). Let me know if you still have problems.
In regards to the missing premium checkboxes in the screenshot from Alan, I believe those settings are there, they are just covered up by the ad (the irony). This is due to the resolution of your monitor. PM me and I can help you get the ad to hide on that size screen.

First fast test in IE shows the abvertisement bug and the box linking bug as fixed. But other strange behaviour was shown i.e.:
- sometimes flickering airframe symbols
- after website reload while logged in the login/logout button shows logout, but map and other settings are indicating that a logout took place.
more intense test later this day.

On Chrome no problems.
On IE initially had problems seeing the Hide Advertisments tick box but logging in sorted everything by removing the advertisement allowing me to see the box..
However problem with photos. On Chrome photos are displaying on IE they are not. Using the same aircraft for each try on both. Photo download seems slow at times and is also a bit slow on the box screen

I just checked and things seem to be back to normal here at PGANRB101072. My NetBook had crashed this morning (has never done before, runs 24/7) when it came back up photos were showing...so got rid of that screen.
Neil
-
Neil,
how long did your Netbook ran until now. A couple of years ago my Netbook had a crash too. After the first crash the intervall between the next and overnext crash got shorter and shorter until the netbook finally deceased.
Had the first crash after about 12 month, Netbook deceased after 18 month.
Ingo

Hey Ingo. Not a serious crash, just shut down, I only use it for AirNav, PP and an AIS feed...it has been pretty "faithful". I just tried to open the Photos folder in RB last night . . it did not want to respond, so I think it was that that caused the "shut down". I notice AirNav thinks it is the 19th November . . I don't think so...mind you, I had to check!!

If you had ANRB software running for about a year 24/7 and have ticked on the photo dowload never try to open the show all photo in ANRB neither try to open the photo folder itself if it is set to "show small picture" mode. That will kill/shut down the strongest computer. WIN has problems with opening folders containing 5000+ pictures as it tries to load them into the RAM simultaniously. Have monitored it with taskmgr until Systems showed no reaction.

Firefox test has shown no problems. Intense testing ist nor possible with my current webspeed. So this has to wait until weekend.
Ingo
-
Good afternoon Hannover.
Any easy way to clear that folder Ingo.
Neil
-
I use the following procedure:
- close ANRB software
- set eraser to one write only
- right mouse click select eraser from menu and select erase from eraser sub menu
- after folder had beed erased create the folder again.
Trying to clear the folder with windows had sometimes lead to system freece too. Seems that windows somehow tries to analyze the files that are due to be deleted. At some count of pictures this had freeced my pc. In other cases that part had worked, but as soon as I went to the garbage container and used the empty function the system freeced again. Eraser is much more "stupid" it searches the file anchor and starts to overwrite from this point until the end without reading the content. It takes some time but workes safely.

Neil,
If you want to open your photo folder for a look. Go to Radarbox/Data/Photos and they open up very easy. As Ingo states never try entering through mylog as it throws a wobbly.
Alan
-
Thanks Lads...managed that. Missed on my first look in DATA.
I was in preferences trying to select no photos, but I cannot seem to save the choice. I remember that when trying to save a colour scheme I could not view the select button on the little NetBook screen...until I changed the screen format, turned it sideways and was able to select . . .phew. No one suggested that to me!
Is the selection button on the other pages at the bottom somewhere???
Neil
-
Alan, on a Netbook even your variant can be deadly. It depends how the folder is configurated. If it is set to details: good chance for ok, if it is set icon: good chance for ok, if it is set to small, medium or big picture it can freece the system. It doesn't happen necessarily, but it can happen. I had this twice as I was using Netbooks for my 24/7 "server". Well, there were 7000+ pictures in the folder at the time.

I temporarily connected a bigger screen to my Netbook, did my settings and disconnected the screen again.
Other way I used: opened RB on PC with big screen and counted the number of tab-key hits from defined poined on last page of preferences menu until select/apply button was selceted.
Ingo
-
Managed it Ingo - removed the task bar ;-) Still showing photos however. I can live with that. Now on to other things. thanks for your help - danke!
-
Neil,
The Apply Button is at the bottom of the screen, guess your resolution doesn't allow you to see them. There is a screen resize programme available for such situations, I will try the search facility to find it and get back.
See you got it anyway. If you don't want to see photos just go to Tools and untick Show Photos
Alan
-
I tried the unticking Alan. Maybe it will kick in someday, as I mentioned, not an issue as the NetBook lid is always closed, unless something does not work!!
Cheers, thanks for your prompt help mate.

Neil, did you see the last part of my message about Tools untick Show Photos
Alan
-
Alan to make it clear:
- if Download photos selectable in preferences is ticked it means that photos are downloaded and stored in DATA/Pictures folder
- tick/untick Show pictures under tools means pictures are downloaded and displayed but not stored
is this correct?
-
Ah that would make sense!
Neil
-
First part correct Ingo.
Second part as far as I am aware ticking or unticking Display or not allows or disallows just that. Some people don't want to see the photos they would rather have more room on the grid for the aircraft they are picking up.
You can have preferences set to download the photos and have the option whether to display them or not through the Tools menu Show Photo.
I have not tried to confirm, just following logic I suppose as if you have chosen not to download them in the first instance you cannot then chose to display them.
