I have received the radarbox today.
I have installed the program, and connected it to the pc.
But I cannot use the program, as it is telling, that I need to use a userid and password???
If so, then be it, but, I think I need at least a place where I can register it.
Can you help me to the location of the registration form?
Greetings,
RobB

The installation disc/paperwork with the radarbox should have a code on it. If I remember correctly it was on the slip that was used to seal the disc.

Ohoh, I am ashamed.
I flipped the front part to the back of that cd-holder, at the second I took it out of the box.
To eager to start.
Sorry, Should have looked more carefully I think.
I have planes in the sky. ;-)
I expected more, as it is crowded here.
-
Welcome to the club. Just wait and see how long it is before it becomes addictive :-)

aarbee,
welcome to the forum - I thought that maybe you had thrown away the packing in your excitement :-)
Experiment with the position of your antenna to ge the most traffic. Ideally, it should have a clear view of the sky as it picks up the Mode S transmissions that are in "line of sight" - if you are in the basement, then you might have problems :-0

Just upgrade to 1.5 as shown on the support page. Pleas read the important notice first and as it says do NOT attempt the RadarBox 2007 (1.3) install.

NO - You have the latest firmware.
-
I have placed the image of what I see on the software.
My flights is empty. I guess, that are the flights I should see.
I have un switched the "Get flights from RadarBox network".
Yet I sill see 24 flights on the network part.
Where do they come from?

aarbee, where is your antenna located?
I'd start by installing RadarBox 2008 (That's V1.5) then go from there.
RadarBox 2008 will install to a new directory, so there is no need to un-install the version you have. V1.5 has a whole load of bug-fixes.
-
Odd... Version 2008/1.5 sees 17 flights of me.
Direction of south-west. which is the direction of the window.
BTW, what happens if I place this on the attick?
I have a nas-server over there?
Can I look at the screen via the software, or only via rdp?
Thanks sofar, for your kind answers.

aarbee, the antenna needs to "see" the aircraft. If you have a wall in the way, you won't get any aircraft in that direction :-)

Hey Arbee,
Your antenna needs a clear line of sight. For the best results an outside antenna is recommendable. Nice to meet someone who's located in Belgium just as me.
Regards,
Dirk.

I am not sure, why you think, I am living in Belgium.
But I live in the south of the Netherlands.
Yet I "see" planes from northern Luxemburg till after Antwerp.
Then ofer Charlerois into northern France.
Sometimes I "see" them from Ostend comming in.
I have tell my family that I need an external antenna, as see planes allready. ;-)

Hello, I had to upgrade from 1.01.2 to 1.5 otherwise it would not work on my laptop(vista), works fine now, old stock I wonder? Another problem was in taking the laptop away from the house, as soon as the wireless internet disconnected, the program froze, it appears that you have to un-check the share data box even if you are not connecting to the network outside. I think you have confused two issues here. 1.01.2 is the firmware edition that is inside the radar box. This is the latest version as is what is load with all new boxes sold/despatched. The are few issues with this as only some older boxes needed to be upgraded.
The 1.5 is the software that is loaded onto your computer. Again the latest edition is 1.5 although we do await the latest issue 1.6 very shortly (please airnav i would love to record!!!)

Careful there Richard - you are mixing up the Firmware version with the Software version :-)
See the FAQ section for further information, but the Firmware (on the chip in the hardware receiver) is V1.01.2 - the latest "factory installed" firmware (shows as V1.01.0 if you've done the firmware upgrade yourself - identical to V1.01.2).
The Software on the other hand is V1.5, so I guess that you have upgraded from V1.4
There you go - clear as mud :-)

Must be my lucky day :-)
-
Thanks for your help, lucky I did not screw up the box - phew!
-
I am happy with the box.
So to speak of.
Yet, I have to try something out. If I can place the antenna on the attick, so I can have it on all day.
But I guess, the answer will be no.
-
aarbee
Not sure why having the antenna in the attic stops you having the radar box on all day. It should not make any difference
-
I think that the roof will stop the signals from coming in.
THere is only a very small window there.
But I can allways try.
Is there a way to receive the data that is send out, on another pc, somewhere else on the world?
I guess it is a software matter?
-
aarbee
I think that you will find very little signal loss through the material in your roof.
Give it a try and see, but the signals should not be affected that much. This taken into account of the range increase because of height should cancel each other out
-
I am allready on the first floor. From which I have a pretty clear view.
Attick is the second.
Will try, and post the results here.
-
With things like this it really is trial and error. Your conditions will never be the same as anybody elses and so it a case of try it and see.
Post your results when you finish the test
-
Top one is made from the 1st floor.
The bottom one is made from the attick.
Totally different view.
Yet I see more planes.

We only got one snapshot
-
Whoops now see both
They had gone over two pages

See what you mean. Its a decision that you while have to make as to which you think is better fro capturing the aircraft. You obviously have something pretty solid on the 1st floor that blocks signals to the east, which is less in the attic.
-
Yes 10 meters of house is blocking that. On the first floor.
I see a different pattern now. After some time of running the radarbox on the attick.
I can see wider now.
-
Looks to me that the attic is the place for your antenna. As always the higher the better, this at least gets rid of some of the obstacles that interupt the signals
-
It changedpretty much during the day.
How can I see, what planes visited the ehbk airport during the day?
Or the Awacs base etng?
