Hi
I have started to experience the folowing problem. After about an hour my radarbox has disconnected itself and I have to pull out the USB lead from the PC and reconnect it.
Once this is done I get a green connected light again.
This problem has only started happening in the last couple of days and the USB is not
being touched to cause a possible disconnection.
I dont think the problem is with either the PC or the RADARBOX
anyone else ever had this happen to them ?
any suggestions as to what may be causing the problem
thanks

Hi Nick, I'm far from being a techie, but wonder if you have some energy saving function set up, which is timing out after 1 hour?
-
Yes I would look at your USB power saving settings

Am currectly at work but will have a look at that tomorrow.
I didnt know there was a USB power saving thing but will check it out but I havent changed anything on my PC at all
thanks for the advice

Control Panel/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers/ check the various USB roots for the Power Management

Thanks Alan will have a look at that

hi
have done what you suggest and its still happening
hardware disconnected
I pull out and replug the usb lead and it changes to hardware connected
ive also tried using a different usb lead

Nick,
Are you using a USB hub or are you connected straight into the computer?
Also Control Panel/Power Options?

One to try, have you moved a new light fitting or another item of electrical equipment near the cable or box recently

Alan
I plug directly into the PC from the box.
The time it takes to disconnect itself varies
I have had it running constantly prior to this happening
Without any problem.
I was hoping other people were experiencing this then I could
Put it down to a glitch in the latest update but
As it seems to be just me I guess I will have to grin and bear it.

Nick,
The reason I was asking about the electrical equipment is that the noise/interference from some equipment such as flourescent lights/Neon lights can cause similar occurances and good shielded USB cables can overcome this.

If it's not been mentioned above, I would try another USB cable.
They have been a pain in the neck for many of us over the years.

Thanks for all your advice
I will see about getting a better quality USB lead and see if that helps

Make sure it is a shielded cable Nick

Further problems now
Have shut down PC restarted and the tried to load airnav
It doesn't load
Initialisation
Loading framework
Version 5.00.065
Checking devices
RB1-found
Then nothing
I am going to delete and do a full fresh download but first how do I save my log
So I don't lose any of my aircraft records
Nick

Just go to data find mylog and save it. Create a folder and drag it across into it and that will copy it. When you have installed the fresh download do the opposite

Thanks al

Ok so I delete radarbox via control panel delete program
I reload via full installation link on form
I start to run it and it doesn't load past rB1-found
I try again with USB out and this time it does load
It has loaded with all my original settings and log etc
Why is this when I deleted and started afresh
Also any clues as to the not loading with the USB lead in

Deleting through Control Panel doesnt delete everything, you normally have to get in there manually and elete what is left. Thats not just true with Airnav but also most programs as the process normally leaves orphan files behind.
Support may be better placed to discuss your problem with as they have the technical knowledge.

I had the exact disconnect Issue with my box purchased in 2009 and it was the poor quality USB lead supplied . Airnav notified but it looks like they still maybe supplying cheap leads ??
