I see no more BETA mention in the title of the tread ; does this means this a time unlimited version, or is it still a BETA with time limit as the previous 5.x releases ?

Thank you.

Liviu,

There are to many to mention.  Easier to note which ones are not fixed.  Please note the photo issue is a server fix required not the software.

If you have an issue which you consider to be outstanding please advise.

If we, the RB users, knew which are the "corrected bugs", it would be easier to check if they were really fixed.

PS. Sorry for my English.

Hi Paul, it's one of the long awaited updates with a lot of the glitches sorted.   If you want your history kept back up your MyLog file, download 5.00.65 and install to C://AirNav Systems to avoid the virtual store problems.   Once installed fire up RB and once it's come to life and up and running, go to File - Database Explorer in aircraft you should find 80 odd thousand a/c rows, hit Database Update leave all ticked to update all records, routes etc. and after about 5 minutes you should have the updated file downloaded.   Close down RB program and then restart, hopefully you'll have the full updated DB with some 210450 odd a/c rows now, and you're up and running, any problems come back and let us know - if I can do it successfully, anyone can!  There's a lot of far more techy people in here to help you if you do hit problems.

Hi Paul,

As Jon says its the updated version with lots of bug fixes.  Comes in either the upgrade or complete versions.  The upgrade should just run over your existing version but the fill install completely installs over 4.03 so if you do it save your my log as per Jon and if need be save your photos, silhouettes , outlines etc if you have updated these over time and replace he onces installed by the installation as they are same as the one which came with 4.03.

As Jon says its more or less the same as 4.03 except that the Navdata is updated within the program.

Hi,
Finally downloaded with no problems but just a couple of questions.
1) Why is altitude font different when having lowest altitude at bottom ?
2)Re database updates I see you have to download them, how often do you have to do this and are flight destinations done at the same time ?
Thanks
Mike.

Mike,

1  No idea
2. The new Navdata is available around midnight each night and you can download them to your own schedule.  Daily, weekly, monthly whatever you want its up to you.  All changes made to the database since you last downloaded are incorporated, additions, deletions, amendments etc to all or any table.  You have the choice of which tables you want to update.

I think this has come up before but I can't find it.

Is there any way of deleting block items from the data base rather than one record at a time.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on the bug fixes.  Much appreciated particularly as I assume many are doing so for free.

I have upgraded to 5.00.65.  I am still though having a problem with incorrect end times being reported for some flights.

For example today EI-DHD came into Stansted (I am near Royston) as RYR8778 . I first picked it up at 17:25 and watched it to within 4,000 feet or so of landing at around 17:45.  It then took off again around 18:44 as RYR8779. I picked it up a minute or so later at 4,000 feet and lost it when it had climbed to 20,000 feet 20 minutes later.  However the end time of the prior flight (RYR8778 to Stansted) was then updated to 18:45 (1 second before the start time of the following flight).  I have end flights in my log set to 15 minutes.

Do I need to adjust my settings or is this an unresolved bug?

thanks

Jon

Hi,
In relation to the fonts sorry but no, I see you can do this to get the 3 different styles but all I want to do is to get the height readings decending downwards and this is the only way to click on the altitude header to do this.

Mike, click on Altitude first time and you get lowest to highest going down the screen.  Click again and you get highest to lowest going down the screen.  Click on it again and it goes back to original.  To highlight you have it set it is Bolded or Bolded with italics

This may have been asked before but there are an awful lot of posts to plough through so if anyone can help.......

Everything running OK since upgrade with the exception of a number of blanks appearing in the "aircraft" column. For example basic flights like EIN 17R and EZY43HP  have OK pictures with OK details of routes and aircraft  - airbus 320-214 & A319 respectively - but nevertheless there are blank spaces in the Aircraft column.

Any ideas please?

Further to the above it is both Registration and Aircraft that are missing from some of the flights.

I moved my existing 3.13 to an an external drive for emergency back up then loaded my original Airnav 2009 and subsequently downloaded the V5 upgrade. No problems at all except as above.

As a matter of interest, if I revert to 3.13 will I still get the daily data download or do I have to persist with V.5?

Thanks for your response Alan.

V5 only Bratters for the data updates.

I dont know if the upgrade works for anything other than 4.03 up.

For 3.13 my suggestion would be for the full install instead of an upgrade.

Thanks Alan. I initially tried a full install but it wasn't right and the program ran so slowly as to be almost intermittent. Time stood still!

I've an outdated and underpowered pc which probably doesn't help although 3.13 still bowls along merrily.

I'll sleep on it.

Alan - the problem seems to have resolved itself and all columns are now populated. It may be just due to lack of resources and slow running but whatever the reason, we are back in business.

This would also indicate that you can in fact upgrade the original version of RB!!

Oddity: the software is refusing to download photos for G-EZIH. The links in the database are both OK, but I'm constantly getting "Photo not available" when clicking on it on the grid, and the photos aren't in the photos folder.

I'm noticing more and more examples of photos not populating when there are apparently valid links in the database - is there a general problem?

Haven't seen G-EZIH again yet.

Not that I am aware of, all aircraft I click on download photos OK and no one has raised the issue previously.

I just went on the network and worked my way down the grid and each one without a photo went the usual Downloading phot/Photo not available and then showed the photos after 4-5 second,. must have tried around 20-30 downloads.

I have the easyjet on alerts to try it.

Well, I've been clicking on a couple now for five minutes - enough time to go to the database, copy their links to the clopboard, go to my browser, paste them in and view the photos on Airliners, then come back and click again on them in the grid - and still no photos - I'm trying it now with G-POWC and G-EZIZ.

And I'm on fibre-optic broadband at 38Mbps so that's not a problem!

Never mind - I'll check again tomorrow - perhaps my PC's having an off day!

I have just seen your reply and put in an alert for the 2 of them. G-EZIZ has come up with 2 photos straight away but it will have been in my folder

On checking the d/b there was a / missing from the end of the link for one of the photos for both of those which has now been corrected.  If you note any more please advise and I will check

Just got G-POWC and both photos downloaded.

If they are not on the map are they in the grid.

Do you have a green light for hardware connected and is the box bottom left ticked for process hardware flights

Evening All,

Many thanks Gents for the replies regarding the lack of aircraft on my map. Further to your suggestions Alan, aircraft are showing on the grid (including the "globe" symbol) and also the hardware box is ticked in the bottom left hand corner. I've also disconnected then reconnected the USB cable and still nothing! The aircraft are showing in my report but not on my map!

I had to uninstall my RadarBox then reinstall it earlier when the map didn't show, whether this was/is the problem I really don't know.

I'm up a certain creek without a certain paddle at the moment!

Any help/info at all will be gratefully recieved.

Please help!

Andy,

Did you upgrade or a do a full install?  Does pressing Map View do anything, give it 10 seconds or so to recycle.

Check you dont have a quick filter on by pressing Show All. Also daft I know but I presume you have the map looking at your location!

Failing that I'm stumped so i would suggest dropping support an email [email protected]

Hi Alan

That Mexican navy Gulftream has just highlighted a minor problem with the logos routine:

It's using a flight id of ANX207, while its reg is ANX-207. It's not showing the ANX logo which is in the folder.

The logic should be that if there is a logo matching the registration (stripped of punctuation) it should display a logo matching that, but if there isn't, it should look at the first three letters of the ID and look for a logo matching that. I've tested it with a logo called ANX207 and it does display that.

Please pass this on to Dev.

Let me get it right Rod, you had the ANX logo on your folder and when you picked up the aircraft today on its return journey displaying a flight ID of ANX207 it didnt show.  Is that correct, I'm confused?  Are you stating that while it didnt show the logo from the flight ID ANX, it would have from the registration ANX-207 if that had been the correct in the database

Hi Alan

Hope you can help, I have just got a new Laptop with Windows 8 as my previous one crashed just before Christmas. and lost everything. (hence the lack of requests) I have tried installing full download of 5.00.65. I have a red block showing that hardware flights is not connected. The box is ticked and I have unplug and reinserted the USB. I am unsure if I have downloaded it correctly as I noticed on the download there was in brackets (x86), do I have to uninstall and download again and take these out, I have also used the same activation code/ password that is on the disc. would it be easier to load this first then upgrade? Please help

Did you use the Windows 8 drivers?  http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/drivers/ANRB-Win8Drivers-v2.08.30.zip

Note they require to be unzipped

Neil,

Once unzipped you will require to go to Device and Printers and find the Radarbox, right click Properties/Change  Settings/Driver/Update Driver and then when asked direct it to where you unzipped the drivers to and it should then instal them.  It may be slightly different as I have Windows 7 so may not have it correctly stated.

Neil,

Lets start at the beginning. As you already have the file on your computer I suggest the following

Click on http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRB50065Setup.exe  you will get a dialogue box asking if you want to Run or Save the file.  Click on Run, this will download the file and once downloaded will ask are you sure you want to Run the file, click Run and the installation dialogue box will open up.  Remove the two end characters from the link which windows added.

Accept the agreement etc and install to path C:\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox and that should be it.

Connect you USB cable.

Then go to the Devices and Printers and install the Windows 8 drivers as advised previously and RB should then work OK once started.

If you still cant get it to work I would suggest you email support or if you are in the UK email me and I will give you my phone number and talk you through the process

Many thanks for your help and advise, much appreciated ANRB is working at the moment, but when I have to do updates to ensure that the database is up to date, and then restart the app, I have to do the full reinstall again, maybe a slight glitch in Windows 8.1, have advise Air Nav Support and awaiting feedback, but at least it is up and running.

Since installing 5.00.65, I find it very difficult following a particular A/C or Flight, I'll highlight it in the Interface list and it'll correctly appear in the centre of the screen, leaving the cursor on the same A/C, but will then jump all on its own to another totally different A/C and Flight - very frustrating - has anyone else experienced this?

Jon,

Its always been that way as by default it is on Changed column.  However if you click on say Flight ID at the top of the grid you will see that it goes bold. Click on your aircraft and it should stay with it.  Click on flight ID again it will go to Italics, cant remember what it does but it will be on the forum some where and now if you click on flight ID again and it will go to the default again.

- open "My log/Grids" window first time after starting anrb.exe
- resize the upper/lower size of the grids.

Jonathan,

What happens if when you zoom in.  Limits are placed on the number of lables that are displayed at anyone time to ensure the screen is not overeloaded with information which would make it unreadable.  Zooming in will reduce the number of aircraft being displayed and enable further lables to be shown.

Hi Alan

On the subject of column sorting, I notice that sorting in the Groundspeed column is done in alpabetic order, not numeric order. All the other numeric colums are fine, but Groundspeed sorting goes wrong, as in this screenshot of the column sorted in descending order, where the fastest planes should be at the top.

I also told Airnav twice on how the menu system differs between windows 8 and windows 8.1

Runway 31 stated my computer skills are so  low and he stated no one else has these problems in windows 8.1

A way from home but if you need the setting/work round  I post them today. I have gone back to 403 because its not been fixed

ps  Please note if you are running windows 8.1 you may find your network flights time out after 5 minutes and then disappear.

I never said anything of the kind about you computer skills please provide your evidence to back up this assertion.  Most V5/W8 users are working away quite happily but a few are having issues and I stated that these issues are due to problems specific to the users set up and at a few hundred miles its not easy to come up with suggestions to clear them.  It helps if users are happy at finding their way around their computer and not all users have those skills which makes assisting even harder, but thankfully users like Neil get back up and running with no further problems.  His problem was nothing to do with network flights disappearing so not connected with the issue you have.

While you state you contacted  support re drivers and changes to the menu on 8.1 did you contact airnav support with your issue if so what advice did they give you about your network flights disappearing.  They are best placed to help as they have the technical knowledge to assist.

if you do need to use the updated drivers and are using windows 8.1  64bit download the drivers then follow my instructions  This is for windows 8.1 users only

1. From the metro start screen open setting (move the mouse to the bottom right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the gear icon)

2. Click "change PC Settings

3. Scroll down and click "update and recovery"

4. Click " recovery"

5. Click under advance start up and restart now

6. Click " Troubleshoot "

7. Click " Start-up Settings"

8. Click " Restart "

9. When windows 8 restarts  type the number next to \" Disable driver signature enforcement\"

Ingo,

If you go back to the opening of the thread, - Populate function in mylog not working as before,

However it has been fixed and will be included in the next release and now operates different to previous versions in that it only populates unknowns that are in your mylog.

There should be no problems with auto-populate as long as you dont click on the aircraft before the data is in the server database.  If you do click on it before it is in the database, it wont populate until the next time you pick it up and click on it or if you close down RB and then click on it.

Title: Timeout problem persist also with 5.00.65
Post by: Dana on February 26, 2014, 03:18:46 PM
Hi,
I want to report that timeout problem persist when seconds to mark as timeout are set less then 4 sec. There are flights at FL350 which appear as timeout (photo attached) Also path vectors are not calibrated and wrong FL reported on ground .
I ask myself why AirNav is not focus on a good firmware which improves the performance and sensitivity ( such as competition proceeds) and not on design  of the software or so...

Dana, It might be an idea to set it for an extra second to avoid your problem.  What do you mean by path vectors are not calibrated?.  The height on ground will be fixed an a future version and is being worked on at this time.

One thing I have noticed with the new updates is this...

The little aircraft icon is very slow to change its direction as the plane is turning for example........

Has anyone else noticed this?  It happens to me all the time.  Not a big deal, but thought I would bring it up.

PIcture a plane departing off the runway, then it makes a sharp turn to the left....the aircraft icon will still be pointing straight ahead....

What is your screen refresh rate set to.  Remember that it is not instant but will have a slight delay even for real time, how much is the delay?  The movement we see comes from the aircraft transponder replying to its interogation by the ground based radar therefore is not a constant or instant movement on the screen compared to the real life view although close.

Alan

Post by: CYYZGUY on February 26, 2014, 05:26:15 PM
Hi Alan, I will take a screenshot for you the next time I see it.  My refresh is set to the 100 Ms, fastest it can be as I have a powerful system.  I only noticed this lag after the first major update.

I guess I notice it a lot because I am a few km's from YYZ so I see all the aircraft turning on the base leg etc...the aircraft icon takes several seconds to update it's direction as opposed to before it was instant for me..

Not a biggie, but it just looks strange when an aircarft is in the turn and the icon is pointing the wrong way...

Jason
Title: Re: AirNav RadarBox 5.00.65 - Download Available
Post by: Runway 31 on February 26, 2014, 05:58:22 PM
Jason,

The aircraft doesnt move on screen the instant it moves in real life, there is always a slight lag and the power of your computer will not make any difference.  The turn you see on screen is not a constant turn as the postional information is updated in reply to each interogation by the radar.  Even if you zoom right in to the aircraft the movement jumps as opposed to a constant movement and if you look at the trail line you will see that it is a series of dots showing he jumps.  At cruising altitude the time taken to make the move will usually be even longer as the interogation will not be as often.

Maybe someone with greater knowledge than myself can give a better reply.

Alan

Hi Alan, ok, maybe I should just explain it this way...

I notice a difference between the old version and the new version with how long it takes for the aircraft icon to change direction as the plane is turning.

I know it is not instant, but it just seems to take longer then before.

No big deal

Jason
