Listening to Heathrow approach ( EGLL ) 119.725 I hear them asking permission for microwave, its only in the past month or so that I have this heard request does anyone know what it means.

It's microwave landing system (MLS) for low-visibility.

Thanks for that, probably not used so much in summer /autumn as I don`t recall hearing until recently.Regards Lou
