Title: No flags, Deja vu!!
Post by: superspotter on September 05, 2012, 05:03:03 PM
Hi Guys:
I have just installed Airnav onto this new laptop and everything is running fine apart from one thing, no flags. I can see a folder in the airnav file labelled flags, can somebody tell me where it or I have gone wrong? The reason for the deja vu is I also run an SBS-1 box that stays at home and I am having trouble with exactly the same thing on that!!
regards clive.

Yep, the folder is full of flags, if I hover the cursor over them the date shown is 19/09/2009. How do I make sure it is the one for 4.03? kind regards clive.

Clive,

The data folder for flags should be in the same Airnav Systems/Radarbox/Data/Flags that your Navdata is located.  Your updated Navdata is at the same location.

Just checked that Alan and it is. The path to it on my machine is C:/program files (x86)/airnav systems/airnavradarbox/data.
In there is navdata db.3, currently 44030kb in size, and the flag folder. I am confused?

Ah you have installed to the default program files location. This gives problems with the windows virtual store and should be avoided by installing to somewhere like C: Airnav.  It will still work OK but you may receive a few problems along the way.  The Kinetic box will also have the same problems in Window 7 if installed to the program files location.

From database explorer, whats your total number of aircraft in the aircraft table, the latest Navdata gives around 168,000

OK, 80393 in db explorer. Should I be getting the 168,000 if it was installed differently? So I need to remove programme and install to what path? I cannot do it now unfortunately for the next 11 days as I am stuck in Lagos but I can manage without the flags! The rest of the programme appears to be working fine though? regards clive.

Actually, would I need to remove and reinstall or is it possible to just change the path? Not the most adept at the 'puter thingies...

Yoy dont have to remove the update, you can either find where you put it and move it to the correct directory or you can download and install it again to the correct directory.

Its is called Navdata.Db3 and will be dated the date you installed it and will be around 43.0 Mb and will be in one of your \Radarbox\Data folders.   Windows search will find all instances of it. Please be aware there are a number of files Navdata.Db3 with different extensions to them.

Alan, the navdata.db3 file is in the data file along with the flags folder. It seems to me the best thing to do is when I get home, remove the whole thing and start again as you suggested, changing the path to C:/Airnav. It is working at present except for the absence of any flag. I shall also remove my SBS from the laptop and change that path too.

No Clive, the Navdat.Db3 is the database containing all the aircraft.  Sorry we appear to be at crossed purposes here.

Flags are in the data folder under flags.  You also have folders for, logos, photos and silhouettes there as well

Well, I am confused but if I go to C:/programfiles(x86)/airnavsystems/airnavradarbox/data I can see as you said, folders for Assets, Flags, Logo and silhouettes. Down the list I find navdata.db3. I have just downloaded it again from the Airnav website and it is 44mb but when I open Airnav and look in Database Explorer it shows 80401 aircraft. There is another Folder in this Data file, again named Data. If I open that one, I find NavdataDB3Creator.
Clear as mud! I do appreciate your help here Alan by the way, dont give up on me just yet!!

Clive.

When you downloaded the Navdata did you download and install or just download and save?  What date is the Navdata.db3 file in the data folder.

Clive,

It can only mean its in the wrong Airnav/Radarbox/data folder, one of the problems of having more than one version of the software on your computer.  The  Radarbox you are using is using another Airnav/Radarbox/Data folder and the Navdata you have found should be moved there.

Well as I mentioned earlier in another post I did originally install off the disc which loaded as airnav 2009 then upgraded to v.4.03. In the 2009 file on the machine there is a data folder but there is only one thing in it and that is MyLog.db3-journal. Anyway, when I am home I will delete everything and reload 4.03 only from this site to C:/Airnav as you suggested and take it from there? kind regards clive.

I would de-install 2.1 completely then search for orphan files which will be left.

Here it is http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/403/ANRB403Setup.exe

Dont install to the default program files location, install to C:\Airnav or similar.  This will avoid windows vitrual store problems.

Also if its a 64bit version of windows you will need the 64bit drivers http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/drivers/ANRB64bitDrivers.zip

Any queries, you know where I am.

OK, being computer illiterate, I have no idea what you mean by orphan fles! However, I will press on and delete v.2 and download the 2 files you have linked to. I will be back....

Back rather sooner than I anticipated! the link you ahve sent for the v4.03 is giving me the following message: The file or page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

A funny character got into the end of that link - try this:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/403/ANRB403Setup.exe

Clive,

Works OK for me http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/403/ANRB403Setup.exe  375Mb by the way so will take some time to download.  The problem may be the 2 symbols afterSetup.exe, delete these as its left by me pressing the space bar

By orphan files, I mean that there will probably still be an Airnav folder left on your computer after deletion.  Find it and manually delete its contents if you can as it may cause problems later.

OK cheers Alan, whilst I was awaiting your reply, I managed to find another link and have now doen tha, ext step the 64 bit drivers and then the navdata. Will then connect the box and make sure everything is OK then attempt the flag update from Rod beardens page.

Ah. Before I cock it up again! I have the 64 bit driver files already on my computer. When I click on it, it is asking me where I want to extract the files to? Bearing in mind the airnav is now in C:/Airnav, where exactly should I drop the 64bit file? The default path it shows when I go to extract is C:/users/clive/documents/ANRB64bitdrivers??

Well I have just connected the box up and everything appears to be working great wothout touching the 64bit drivers. I have flags too!
