Title: 3D Diagramm Visualization
Post by: IC7K on March 29, 2012, 10:27:09 PM
When i trying to decide, which antenna is more effectively, and where it have a holes in diagrams
i was create a programm for this purposes.
Main idea: in good receiving zone ads-b packets receives often, in bad - more and more rarely.

Program simply decode prerecorded RadarBox .rbl file and connvert it to .KML google file with following rules
if time between packets is:
<5 sec when path is GREEN
5-10sec - YELLOW
>10sec - RED

every packet have vertical line in .kml

the result you can see below (handmade .gif picture 800 kb size, wait for load)
red zone is dead zone for my antenna.

Download utilitie:
http://forum.adsbradar.ru/downloads.php?do=file&id=222 (http://forum.adsbradar.ru/downloads.php?do=file&id=222)

Interface is simply - just select .rbl file and wait convert process, after it, just save .kml.
Now you can open .kml in GoogleEarth

You can select needed zone for your .kml

very interest to see yours diagrams,
you can simply post .kml file here or creating .gif

enjoy!

Nice tool, but the processing time can be an issue.

I have recorded  Data for about five and a half hour. Precessing time on 3GHz quad core (seems that two cores were used) 45 minutes. KML file size: 8MB

Some thinking points:

- Is it possible to add "break points" for displayed altitudes? EG: Do not show everything above FL100
- Range Pre-selection for all fellows with huge reception ranges and high traffic. Only process AC within range of 10,20, 50, 100nm.

Some Screen-shots of the produced KML file:

long time processing is depends from sqlite operations

i'll think about your proposal

- Do not show everything above FL100
- Only process AC within range of 10,20, 50, 100nm.

thank you!

results for two different antennas - Radial (http://adsbradar.ru/content/radial-1065-1134-mhz-antenna-vertikalnaya-a10-1090) and 1090SJ mk 2 (http://adsbradar.ru/content/1090sj-mk-2-dedicated-antenna-1090mhz)

you will see Radial dead zone is more intensive
