Title: Why 7700 so often from one specific spot?

Hi,

I have an alert set up to notify me when anyone on the network or in my local sky squawks 7700. 99.99% of the time, the alerts come from an area around N53 00 E05 00 to N54 00 E06 00. In other words, a small square of ocean off the Dutch coast is the only place I ever get alerts from.

Anyone got any ideas why that is?

Is it that only one person in the world - located near that position - is able to pick up squawks and send alerts over the network?

Is there something particularly dangerous about this area that causes 7700s to be declared regularly?

Am I completely missing the boat (or flight as the case may be)?

Certainly sounds unusual.  I would take screenshots when you see them and provide them to Airnav Development by PM for further investigation.
