Title: wrong locations
Post by: lone on January 08, 2011, 08:18:10 PM
I monitor traffic between EGBB-OMDB And have noticed UAE40 is travelling over the INDIAN OCEAN at the moment, strange as there is no Indian Ocean between EGBB OMDB.......
Also on the way here UAE39 OMDB-EGBB when it flies over Belgium it says its location is over the NORTH SEA. Can someone please tell me how to rectify these problems
Regards lone

Hi Lone,

Take some of the travelling over detail with a pinch of salt. The reason is the map we use is purposely reduced in terms of country lines etc.. The same is also to the land masses and water given names which causes discrepancies. If we increased the detail it will place a large load of your machine resources.

Regarding the actual issues you saw, if an aircraft crosses over water when in a country it will get the nearest water name which is why you may see North Sea if it crosses over some water in Belgium.

Not much we can do with this issue at the moment, we were asked in earlier versions to remove this but some people found it helpful.
