Title: Delayed / Live data
Post by: Lossie666 on October 18, 2010, 08:25:34 AM
Daft question time.... WHen i look at netwok data it is delayed 5 mins, yes? But anything I pick up from my own antenna is real-time, yes?

So when an aircraft flies out of my reach and goes network, do I suddenly start seeing it as it was 5 mins ago (i.e. it jumps backwards a hundred miles?)

Still learning (slowly!), Matt.

Correct - network data is delayed by 5 minutes unless you pay the extra for live data. An extra EUR60 per annum

Correct.  Anything you pick up on your antenna is LIVE, anything on the network is 5-minute delayed, unless you've paid for real-time network access.

And yes, an aircraft will jump back when transitioning from local to network, and jump forward when transitioning from network to local.  Probably about 25 miles for an aircraft travelling at 300mph.
