Title: Route Database
Post by: John Racars on February 26, 2008, 02:22:08 PM
Hi All,

I have still an other question.

From which databases do I have to make a backup to be sure I will loss no data, p.e. my route-database in which I made thousands op additions in the time until sofar I am a RadarBox user.

In other words: from which *.dab and or *.dat file should I make a backup to save all the, verry much time and work, I put in my Routedatabase?

Thank you in advance for your answer(s).

John,

The routes in V1.4 are stored in an SQL database file (NavData.db3), so I don't think that you will be able to use your existing files I'm afraid.

AirNav Development will be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Allocator,

What are you telling me now? If so that is unbelieveable and verry unfriendly! To lookup all the routes NOT IN THE ORIGINAL AirNav Database and then adding to this database costed me much time and energie until sofar. And that is all for nothing now???

I hope AirNav Development will correct you.....

1.4 was designed to make Database editing easier using SQL Lite. The system is a complete rewrite that will improve speed overall.

You will be able to add your new routes into the Database in an much easier way however you won't be able to copy your database across.

The updating of the databases to SQL has been mentioned on the forums various times. You can stay on 1.3 but we hope 1.4 would make it easier to have sharable database.

Out of interest, which .dat file holds the route details in v1.3?

We have had a meeting today and we will develop a small routine to import old route database data into the new format. More news on this topic in the coming days.
