Title: A close call - in 3D
Post by: pjm on February 14, 2010, 03:00:33 AM
Maybe the pilots just wanted to wave at each other :) but the evasive action they took looks... umm...  interesting! Click on the images to see full size.

I wonder what the passengers thought?

They were a bit to close for comfort I think! :-)

Doh.

3D views would be extremely boring if they showed the aircraft size to scale, so they are displayed highly magnified.

Think about it - those position plots have to be at least half a second apart, probably more, which at 300kt would make those vertical lines a minimum of 250' apart, and those A320s at least 1000' long or more ...

Perhaps AirNav need to issue a health warning with RadarBox 3D  :-)

You can choose to use smaller 3D models in the 3D Preferences.  This shows it on one of the smallest settings.

So, if you want a more "realistic" 3D display, it's available.

Wouldn't sell as many newspapers, though  :-)

hi,
very nice shots.
why does airnav not release the 3D verson? seems as if everything is working fine. so what' s the reason for the delay? think of the many poor souls waiting desparately to get this view on their devices!

The 3D version will be released soon, it is in the final stages of the closed beta and it will be well worth waiting for.
