Title: AirNav RadarBox 2010 - 3.13 Beta - Released
Post by: AirNav Development on December 03, 2009, 03:25:41 AM
The crash at shutdown problem seems to be solved (as tested by several users that reported it happennig) so we are releasing V3.13 Beta which, if no more problems are reported, will later be converted into a final non-beta version. One more time we are not releasing a full installer but just the changed .exe.

1- Download the new V3.13 executable file from:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/313Beta/anrb.exe

2- Copy it to your AirNav RadarBox folder, overwriting the existing file.

Please note that this is still a beta so errors may still exist and should be reported on this thread or to our support team at [email protected]

AirNav

I have had the new "exe" running for several hours this morning, I can not see any problems - possibly the busy ring when doing the ftp upload, which I think was mentioned before, but that is all. I have had my RB now for about 18 months and I think this is the best software and most stable I have ever seen.

I don't use the network.

Well Done and thank you.

Andy

I have previously pointed out that in the status bar (to the right of the messages/sec count) the range/bearing data is not always reliably associated with the selected aircraft and indeed can stay showing its last value even when My Flights is showing 0 aircraft in view.

I have seen range/bearing values for a network flight showing even with My Flights selected.

In addition, the File->Exit menu item puts up a dialog asking if the user wishes to quit, clicking the window close button closes without asking anything. I'd say this ought to be consistent with an option in the preferences to decide whether to show the dialog box.

Pretty quiet picture…  I am putting all my best to not  even disturb it.

But, Airnav, first three issues concerning ACARS section which I mentioned in my post # 51 in the topic concerning v.3.11 still exist as I can see when running 3.13.

Looks like these issues will not bе corrected in a final non-beta version.

I even predict your answer - “Our ACARS section is working exactly as described in user manual”.

You will be right, ACARS sections of Radarbox manual is written very professionally from the sales point of view. A lot of examples of ACARS messages, and just a small description of ACARS portion of software. I especially like two separate pictures – screenshot photo of aircraft /message and screenshot of list of messages. Nicе work.

Sure, formally I can’t expect changes of photos of aircraft when I scroll messages through the list and that the right click menu was working . But, Airnav, you are professionals, if you don’t have time now to make these features work properly, may be just  remove it from the interface for some time?

You know, here in Russia we often use two phrases “art for art’ and “art for people”. I don’t know if these phrases are used in the English speaking world.  From my point of view your current implementation of interface from 2.1 to Radarbox, is exact  example of “art for art’ approach. No real add-on value for both products (for 2.1 anyway).

Ok, I stop  talking about issues,Airnav.

А lot of events happened  this year – economical crisis, new horses riders warning device will be on the market soon ,etc.

Christmas is coming soon , and  I have a few Christmas cards  for you. Not from me really. But from your other baby, which looks for just a little more attention from your side. This baby also may draw not bad pictures of the sky, as well as 3.13. These are exact examples of  the “art for people” approach:

The ACARS Decoder AirNav longer matters to AirNav? Is that it does not work with Win7 and it needed an upgrade.

Also noticed that the aircraft history can easily be showing the data for the wrong aircraft, it needs a change in selection then a reselect to get the correct history.

Hi guys I cannot for the life of me ever do anything with this link or the previous ones V3.11 or V3.12, can we simplify this by adding a link like V3.10, which I downloaded very simply and without any problems.

Thanks Michael

Michael,

Shut down the radarbox

Click on the link, it will give an option to run, save or cancel, press save and save it to somewhere like My Documents.

When its saved go to the folder My Computer/Program files/Airnav Systems/AirNav Radarbox 2009 3.**Beta and you will see a file named anrb.exe.  Move the file you downloaded into My Computer into the Radarbox 2009 folder and your computer will tell you there is a file of that name already there and ask if you want to over write it, answer yes.  Shut the folder and start up Radarbox again and you should now be running V3.13

You don't need to save and copy it. You can save it direct to the Airnav file.

Hi Airnav.  All going well here with 3.13b.  The only issue I continue to have is the same aircraft coming up multiple times in the log.  This has been the case since v3.0.   You can see in the below log for VH-VQB and VH-VQD.

Since installing the exe from 3.13 had one crash of RB, this morning the hardware wasn't connected, had to disconnect/reconnect the usb lead.

Maybe nothing to do with 3.13??  Will report later on if anything happens.

No problems running Beta V3.13 with Planeplotter here.

I've just 'rediscovered' Planeplotter, so it's on all the time at the moment :-)  Are you running the latest version of PlanePlotter?

Question.  Why does RB keep overwriting my NavData with "Tie-up extracted from Country Sequence" if I already have the right info in my DB?  Wish there was a way to somehow LOCK certain codes so they don't get modified wrongly by the network update.

Yes, 5.4.4.3 (Registered).

I have been out for a couple of hours, and it didn't crash whilst I was away, but as soon as I am back it crashed. I will reboot the PC to see if that helps.

It is certainly very impressive now. What we need now is mlat tracking of multiple tagets :o)

I could not get mlat to operate on my laptop with a Vodafone mobile broadband dongle. I fitted a new '3' dongle today and it worked straight off.  I can't wait to take it to Mildenhall now.

Yes, the problem with mobile broadband is that you're stuck with the operator's policy on whether the pass all incoming ports and all traffic types through to the subscriber. 3 do, but it seems no one else does.

I use my Orange 3G Broadband Dongle with PP and MLAT without any problems - as a subscription option rather than a Master User, as I really can't be bothered to run my SBS-1 as well as the RB.

Allocator,

You mean you are a Master User. The other option is Ground Station where you are one of the SBS-1 users contributing data to mulilateration.

I'd like to be a Ground Station as the number of those is small in this area. Do you wan to sell your SBS?

Oh, OK - whatever I am, I'm paying to see the MLAT data rather than contributing it.

I'll keep my SBS-1 in the forlorn hope that one day I'll get the MapModeS data that Kinetic promised when I purchased it.

This may be unrelated to the beta's exact version, but I've noticed recently that if I do a populate from My Log I'm seeing something like 350 aircraft info/photo requests. This number has been steadily climbing of late, it used to in the low 40s but is now seemingly going up slowly without apparent limit.

Any thoughts Airnav? Something that would be useful is a log of what it's trying to retrieve, the only way of finding out at present seems to be a Wireshark capture and a lot of filtering!

I still get crashing (freezing) after having sorted by altitude in Myflights and newtwork flights but assumed it had to be something this end. 3.13B.

I tried sorting by altitude here, and left it, didn't crash. Also usually sort by distance, again no crashes seen.

How did that happen?  Did you edit it with an external program?

I just went to open Database Explorer to add some stuff and the File drop down doesn't work.  Alt+F won't open it either.  The other drop downs wouldn't work with the mouse until disconnecting the hardware, but they will now after reconnecting it.

the info generated in the reporter?

thanks Marc

A little problem with 3.13. I have The Air France A388 F-HPJA set up in Fleetwatch. When RB started up, it didn't appear in the Fleetwatch grid, even though I watched it for 5 minutes on the map and in the (live) Network grid. Could this be because it was on the ground for this whole period after program start?

It has appeared in Fleetwatch before (when it was flying).

I have a slight problem with Air France's F-HPJA (their new Airbus A380).

I first recorded it overflying the Midlands on Sat (5th Dec) locally (not on network). Then recorded it again on Sunday - and noted that it did not appear in aircraft history.

Then it went over again on Monday (7th) and still no history showing...

When I went into My Log/reporter and asked to generate today's and yesterday's entries, it was missing.

And yet, when I go into My Log/grids, it is showing there - with a MsgCount of 459 - but 'Flights for Selected Aircraft' shows just a single entry with StartTime of 2009/12/05 14:07:59 and EndTime of 2009/12/07 13:49:13.

The start and end time are correct, but surely this should show up as three separate entries for F-HPJA of AFR006 on Sat/Sun/Mon?

Am confused! - Any suggestions?

Chris

Works fine for me.  What are you trying to do and what exactly is the problem?  A bit more info may help us to help you.

I've got the same thing as Chris - just over two days - seepic below which shows that she was in MyFlights for over 24 hours.

Thanks Rod - was just about to a add a gif as 'photographic evidence' of my problem - but you beat me to it!

Reassuring to see that a 'hero' member has seen the same and not just me being dumb!

I do not know what the problem was, I tried several times and is only now that I did. I have no idea what happened.
