Title: Question abt. RB Log
Post by: jannuh on October 09, 2009, 12:32:57 PM
Since several days the RB Log, sent by email at 00:00z is growing since same flights are multiple times in the log, best I'll show it:

What version of the RB software are you using?

The only time I've seen this is when 2 x F15 aircraft kept flying in and out of my live coverage area and I got multiple 'hits' - this was with Beta V3.06.  If you look at the times in your log, there are time gaps between the 'hits'.

It is possible that these 2 C17's were flying at the edge of your live coverage?

The remainder of your log looks good, just these 2 aircraft giving the problem.

Hi Allocator,

Using RB V3.06B (see screenshot)

Have no positions of these C17's.
As there are more flights with this behavior in my log, will look into it, choosing civ.flights, with positions.

Thanks for your reply!

This is perfectly normal behaviour.  Not a lot Radarbox can do about an aircraft that constantly changes FlightID.  The example you provide is a clear case of an aircraft with a constantly changing Flight ID - sorted by time:

RCH HD   10:56:58
RCH311   10:58:29
RCH HD   10:58:32
RCH311   10:58:50
RCH HD   10:58:57
RCH311   10:59:00
RCH HD   10:59:06

Everytime a new Flight ID is used, Radarbox records that as a new flight.  Nothing wrong with that in my book.  Maybe the aircraft needs fixing!!

That's interesting.  I had 03-3115/AE1198 on my box 1109-1131z on 08/10, but during all of that time it only registered the "RCH HD 2" Flight ID.

In fact I've never encountered a C-17 that exhibits the constantly-changing-callsign problem that seems to affect some B744s (nor indeed have I ever seen D-ABVX with this issue either).

I think we need to look a bit further for the explanation in these two cases.

Comparing the bit pattern for the two IDs should allow you to work out if somehow the two cases are separated by a missing bit perhaps?

Well the issue was that the same aircraft was apparently sending Flight IDs "RCH HD 2" (actually "RCH@HD 2", although the "@" doesn't show in RB logs) and "RCH3115".

The corresponding bit patterns are:

010010 000011 001000 000000 001000 000100 100000 110010
010010 000011 001000 110011 110001 110001 110101 000000

Other than the first three (RCH) being the same, not a lot of resemblance there ...

Lots of reports on http://www.live-military-mode-s.eu/ of this aircraft using these FlightIDs on that day:
RCH3115
RCH HD 2
RCH@HD 2

jannuh,

This is all aircraft issues, if they send out different flights ids due to a fault there side we can't do anything about it :)

Quite so - see my post above re B744s, which is the type mostly affected by this issue.  It only shows up on certain airframes, of which HS-TGX is one.

Tarbat had already stated that.
Wanted just to let see that also some civ. flights are involved...
