Title: How annoying is that?
Post by: DougV on September 13, 2009, 07:22:22 PM
It has probably been mentioned before but I find it really annoying that aircraft over the North Sea are reported as flying over the Atlantic Ocean.

Right.
That's my gripe over for today.

:o)

That'll be the rise in sea level due to climate change.

I guess it's fair to mention that any aircraft flying over Lake Ontario is reported as flying over the Atlantic Ocean.

Yep I agree I show aircraft over the North Sea labelled as over the Atlantic!

As you may all understand it is impossible to have all the world, including all the details for each location on our maps.

This will change with RadarBox 3D as it is based on Google Earth and those details are provided by them.

So what's the situation when forced to operate without network connectivity. Like it is with photos, routes etc or will there be a local copy or cache?

OK I understand its imposable to map the world but I find it annoying that Ireland is centred over the Atlantic but it says that the 6 counties of Ireland that the map is centred over northern Ireland surly it couldn't of been that hard to have it say republic of Ireland or even southern Ireland Wales and Scotland are included anyway I'm not giving out about it like that I still find the radar box amazing now had it for 3Weeks

What I was asking was how it will work if I don't have access to Google Earth for some reason (it might happen when out and about and my 3G dongle is out of coverage). I wondered whether the information normally retrieved from GE is cached locally so that the lack of network doesn't lead to a total lack of fairly static data such as where an aircraft is flying at the time.

I'm unlikely to be a major user of the 3D stuff either, I assume it will just behave as it does now.

It wont connect to the MS server so won't work.

MS do not allow you to save their map tiles.

Oh I'm not interested in the detailed maps, just in the basic locations for where an aircraft is. Sometimes if zoomed in it can be difficult to tell where you are looking at.

Fenris: it will work exactly like Google Earth does.

If you ALL think that the location - string is incorrect or invalid - Airnav could there be an option to suppress the location srting on the display??
