Title: New Real-Time Network Location Map
Post by: AirNav Development on October 23, 2007, 06:52:50 AM
Users request and we do. We have just finished the development of a web page that shows in real-time all the locations sharing data to our Network Server.

Check it at:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/network.php

Note that the locations shown are not those specified by each user. They are extracted from the user IP address for greater accuracy. Some stations may be missing. You will see a great increase in sharing station during weekends.

Say tks to our support team for the development work!

Just now, my shack is also displayed. Great to be in the heart of europa.
But what's about our yankees? Is this kind of observing forbidden there?

That's not strictly accurate (the part about showing locations).  The more users there are in a given part of the world (e.g. the UK) the less transparent the underlying map becomes, to the point where you can't see any map detail at all for most of the southern UK.

So it's guesswork where a lot of those users are  :-)

Can your techies come up with a more sensible approach to showing overlapping coverage ?

Dave

Its difficult as the range shows up a a transparent circle but with soo many RBs in a certain area then it doesnt become transparent anymore.

We can have just the perimeter of the circle but that gets quite confusing with lots of lines all over the place. We will have a think, send any suggestions you have.

Yes i have one suggestion. Use only one pal transparent color for the covered area and only a bold outline. Something like this.

Interesting idea, unfortanetly the coding behind that won't be easy but we will take a look.

The USA and Canada and totally covered by our AirNav Live Flight Tracker software which receives real-time flight data from all the FAA and Canadian Radar Stations.

Are there any moves in the future to allow the network to transmit that data from Flight tracker to those AirNav user who supply data from their boxes - thus opening up the movements in the USA to AirNav box users without having to buy Flight tracker?

That is a possibility but before that we will release a new "AirNav Live Flight Tracker" version which, in our opinon, will be the most complete flight tracking software available on the market.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have to say I am impressed with the customer support you give which is a great factor in deciding which way to jump in terms of product.

With regards to 'AirNav Live Flight Tracker', the title gives the impression it will show A/C moving in the same way as Radar Box does at the moment. Are you able to give us a brief synopsis of what it will do over and above the current version or is that a bit too commercially sensative.

Cheers.

If it is added, it will be added to the network function and hence it will be 5 minute delayed and updated every 30/60 seconds. Though nothing has been confirmed yet.

Would it be possible to make a list of the locations, rather than the 200 nm circles, so we can see if there are locations nearby?

Not all users would wish their location to be made available on the web.

I'm guessing the reason my location doesn't appear on the map is to do with how IP addresses are allocated by BT?  Seems a shame that my 24x7 coverage of the far north of Scotland is missing from the network map!!

Whenever I lookup my IP address on http://www.ip-adress.com/ it seems to move around all over the UK, from Newcastleton to London to Bournemouth, but never anywhere near my real location.

We have someone in the Fareo Islands now (spelling its probally wrong) so there should be good coverage for Scotland and the NAT routes.

Absolutely. I agree.

I was wondering if an entirely anonymous list of towns/locations could be presented.

Excellent.  Do you know if they're on 24x7, I'd like to look out for when they're online.  I've never seen any aircraft shared in the network any further north than my location.

I just about get coverage up as far as the Faroe Islands according to my polar diagram.

Hope the elastic in the cable is strong enough !

And they're online this morning.  Excellent!!!!

Unfortunately, according to http://www.ip-adress.com/ipaddresstolocation/ , my IP address currently reckons I'm in Birmingham :(
