Title: New "Why RadarBox" leaflet
Post by: AirNav Development on April 02, 2009, 05:24:10 AM
We have just created a new leaflet so our users can understand the advantages of AirNav RadarBox. Feel free to print and distribute it to other users.

Available at:

Sorry to be picky chaps, but your statement that "it also acts as a gateway to aircraft movements around the world achieved by its exclusive feature of data sharing with others." just is not true. PlanePlotter provides data sharing with others and does not even require a receiver to do so.

Its exclusive in the way its the only reciever software to do this. This way you don't need two software running etc..

PlanePlotter does NOT require any other software to receive aircraft movement data from around the world.

Then its not sharing its data :)

'The Internet data source is FREE for an initial period, and then chargeable for a small annual fee thereafter.'

Because you state initial period is this likely to be changed from the current period of 12 months?

Then its not sharing its data :)

Of course COAA is sharing the data from its members, just like you are. The differences are:

1. It comes from both AirNav and Kinetic users

2. It is recordable, which yours is not.

3. It includes positionless as well as positional reports so is more useful.

So, if you wish to be totally honest you should remove the erroneous statement from the leaflet. ANRB is a good product which does not require non-facts to sell it.

No the intial period is still 12 months.

Viking9,

Your being very picky, is RadarBox 2009 the only software which gets data from a ADS-Breciever (directly) and shares it and displays others data on the software as well. Yes.

If your using Planeplotter by its self to get data from other stations across the world your not sharing any data as you don't have a reciever connected.

Having been critical of both AirNav's and Kinetic's marketing in the past, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the latest RadarBox flyer.  Apart from the odd grammatical deficiency, and a tendency to overdo the sniping at the competition, it's a pretty fair effort.  The only part I think could do with improvement is the rather woolly description of which aircraft you are and aren't likely to see using ADS-B, and a rather confusing reference to other data link technologies which aren't relevant to Mode S.

Airnav,

You are at it again. Don't bloodywell patronise me. I know well the differences between sharing via Radarbox and via Planeplotter without a box. Have you used PlanePlotter yourselves? The fact remains that the statement in your leaflet concerns the software "The software not only integrates seamlessly with the live data stream, it also acts as a gateway to aircraft movements around the world achieved by its exclusive feature of data sharing with others".  The last part of that statement is patently incorrect. As a reputable multinational corporation I would expect you not to give invalid information in order to sell your product.

Your team is already a laughing stock across the internet because of your attitude to users who offer constructive criticism. When are you going to learn?

End of discussion.

We listen to contructive crictism, we just think here as you admitted in your first post your being picky just to pick something out and have a go and get our reaction.

As we have explained that fact that RadarBox is the only software at the moment which shows Live Aircraft on the screen seamlessly from the reciever (not through any port data or having hacked an exe file to get Live Data) and also network data.

Planeplotter as we know can only show Live Data with the either RB or BS running and in the latter it needs a hacked version and the next version of RB will have a fix. Both are not seamless and in the case of BS you are changing the orginal BS software.
