Title: A380 overflights uk
Post by: spikem on March 31, 2009, 03:56:30 PM
Hi All

Some time ago I read about the Emirates A380 overflying between liverpool and the East coast and set up an alert hoping to see it, since then I haven't had one notification. Are they still using this route and if so has anyone logged it recently?

Many thanks

Martin

If you mean UAE202 then, yes, it still overflies the UK on some days (7 so far this month) although it's normally a bit further south, roughly following UL9.

I've logged UAE201 several times as well, last time was on 4th Feb by A6-EDA.

Hi Martin I have even managed to log them here in Northern Ireland, though not since 23/03/09. I have logged A6-ED A, B and C as UAE202.

I too have set up an alert after seeing the Emirates A380 overhead twice - bound for JFK according to my RB.

Sadly the last time was at the back end of 2008 - so as the other posts say they do seem to prefer the southerly tracks - guess us "northern types" will have to rely on some unusual jetstreams to get them up here again

Cheers

UAE201 on a southern NATS track again today, she (A6-EDA) is just east of Southend as I write.

Fridays UAE201 routed from east coast (Cleethorpes area) to Lancashire coast. Clearly visible from Chesterfield - trailing like mad! The UAE202 that morning routed over Madrid.
More often than not the UAE201 routes over Scandinavia and the UAE202 routes over Ireland and then either Wallasey and out over North Sea (right over my house :-)) or over South Wales and London. This service is soon to finish with the A380 being used on the Toronto route I believe.

I had just been reading earlier today that Emitates were not using the A380 for flights to JFK due to the fall in demand for seats and that they were using Boeing 777s instead.

I then just spotted on screen an Emitates B773 flight UAE204 enroute over the North of England to Dubai. I then checked my Reporter and it seems that I captured an Emirates A380 this morning.
