Title: AirNav RadarBox 2007 - Version 1.2 (Patch Beta 2) Post 2:
Post by: AirNav Support on September 12, 2007, 03:55:03 PM
Development Post from the weekend (please also read the further posts for important notes):

Good News.

The second beta for "AirNav RadarBox 2007" patch is available for download.
This addresses all the reports received from Patch 1 Beta 1 testers. You don't need to have the previously patch installed. We have named this version ANRB 1.2.

Detailed explanation:
In this correction we were specially concerned with the hardware disconnect issue. This involved the development of new drivers for the HW/SW connection and a complete rewrite of the HW/SW communication routines. We also worked on several new features like the new "Vertical Tracking View".

As before we now need your help for feedback and problem reporting / correction.

It is very important that you follow the instructions below. This beta should be used by experienced computer users only. It requires a little bit of knowledge to understand some steps. So if you are NOT a computer "expert" wait a few more days for the final release. You are completely responsible for properly do the steps below including the firmware upgrade. The upgrade steps are not automated now.

1- Download Instructions:

a) Download the new Beta Patch from:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/anrbpatch12.zip

b) Extract all these files to your RadarBox root folder (usually "c:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007"). Overwrite the existing files.

c) First you need to do the driver update. These new drivers were developed by an external company and have some changes that prevent the Hardware disconnect issues.
They are located in "C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007"
To update them:
 - Go to "Windows Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager";
 - Browse "Universal Serial Bus Controllers";
 - Double Click over "AirNav RadarBox";
 - Go to the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver";
 - Answer "No, not this time";
 - Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
 - Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install";
 - Click "Have Disk";
 - Select the "C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007\Drivers" folder;
 - Click Next and follow the specified instructions.

d) Now you need to update your firmware. We have developed a special application for this purpose. It is called "AirNav RadarBox Firmware Updater".
Run it at:
"C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007\FirmwareUpdater.exe"

do NOT attempt to update the RadarBox firmware if you have not installed the latest driver.

e) After the driver and firmware updates above are finished, run AirNav RadarBox as usually.

Welcome to Version 1.2!

Please reply to this forum with comments and suggestions and again.
THIS IS STILL A BETA, so expect to find some problems. We want to hear from you before releasing the final Patch.

Trouble Shooting

Driver Issues:
If you can't install the driver, as you get messages such as "file not found" under Vista or a 64bit machine. Then download our full drivers from:

http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/ANRBDrivers204.zip

Extraction Problems
- When the Beta12 patch is downloaded, it is a zip file.

 - If files are unzipped using the directory paths that come with the zip, they are put in a /ARNBPatch12 and /ARNBPatch12/Drivers directory

- You then need to copy the flies manually to the appropriate locations in the AirNav RadarBox 2007 directory structure

- The 4 files in the /ANRB/ directory need copying to the /AirNav RadarBox 2007 directory

ANRB.exe
FirmwareUpdater.exe
ftd2xx.dll
rb.dll

- The 7 files in the /ARNBPatch12/Drivers directory need copying to the /AirNav RadarBox 2007/Drivers directory

ftbusui.dll
ftd2xx.dll
ftd2.h
ftd2xx.lib
ftdibus.inf
ftdibus.sys
ftlang.dll

- Once you've done this, it's the new inf file in the /AirNav RadarBox 2007/Drivers directory that you browse to when installing the new RB drivers.

Patch does not work

If the patch is not working for you then please post in this topic and answer the following questions:

1.) What Driver version are you using?
(This can be obtained by going into control panel -> system - hardware - device manager - usb devices - (right click on RadarBox then driver version) )

2.) Version of RadarBox 2007 you are running?
(Open RadarBox 2007, go to help then about)

3.) Confirm you have run Firmware update in the RadarBox 2007 fodler and confirm you have the same files as listed above in the earlier troubleshooting method.

RadarBox appears as USB to Serial Device in Device Manager

Contact support via our website. It is likely your hardware is corrupted and hence we will need to arrange  a RTB.

Thanks to customers in the last post for helpfull suggestions and troubleshooting routines.

Hi allocator, my files are now the same as yours except FTD2xx.dll which is dated 8/9/2007 Version 3.1.14.2 197KB.

Not really sure where you got that file from Brisbane, I've just downladed the AirNav zip file again from this forum and this is what I see.  However, when unzipped this does show as Version 3.1.14.2 197KB although I'm not sure why your date is different.

How far have you got with updating the RadarBox driver?

Hopefully i've got the Radarbox drivers installed correctly, I deleted the old one's before extracting the new one's. Still freezes when I try to open exe. When I try to do the driver update, I get to the Have Disk stage then it says " unable to find drivers for this device".

Brisbane, I guess that you mean that you have copied the driver files correctly, but you have not been able to install the driver update.  I'm not sure that it was a good idea to delete the old driver files, as you might have removed something that you need!

When you go to My Computer - Properties - Harware - Device Manager, can you see AirNav RadarBox in the Universal Serial Bus controllers section?

When you use Have Disk, are you then browsing to the \AirNav Radarbox 2007\Drivers directory where you have copied the ftdibus.inf and ftdibus.sys and the other 5 driver files to?

These are the files that I have in my AirNav RadarBox 2007 directory (but note that I am using a different ANRB.exe file so the size may be different to yours:

And these are the files in the \Drivers directory:

Hi,

I installed the patch without problems, started the program and version 1.2 active..... alive but not for long.. :(

A few hours and than the program stops and is terminated without notice..... back to the desktop again.

I have to start the software again to get it running for a few hours again.

It's not a driver problem anymore as far as I can see it, the radarbox keeps connected until the automatic shutdown of the program.

It's running on a clean (IBM) laptop (xp) which is not used for anything else.... also no human interferance, program started and not playing with it...

Any ideas, suggestions?

Go into File -> Preferences and rude the screen refresh rate to 3000. Apply the settings.

Our guess is that your computer was unable to cope with the traffic at the stage and shutdown. The screen refresh rate should not make a much a difference to yourself but will save on CPU time.

Sorry, 3000 was set already.....

network disconnected (I like LIVE instead of 5 mins delay) so there's not that much traffic.....

Other suggestions?

What is your computer specs?

Did anything else occur in that time, such a windows update or something?

Lastly, are you connected to the Internet on that machine. If not can you disable sharing in the preferences

Your computer should be perfect to run it without any problems. After the intial changing of screen refresh rates we have not had a single support issue. Keep it running and tell us whether it replicates.

However confirm to us your driver version?

driver version 2.0.0.0 according the device manager...

that's another thing, with your setup advise (above) I could not install a newer driver?? Selecting the specific folder gave no possibility to install another one..... maybe that's an issue here?

Please read the second post in this topic. Install the drivers and make sure the firmware is updated and everything should run without any problems.

Ok, I will try that tomorrow....

Maybe it's a nice idea to make a complete new install file with all the firmware and beta patches including drivers instead of all these extra steps?

I'm experiencing a lot of problems myself (as you can see) and a lot of our members (ATCBOX) come to me with all the same questions like I post here..... it's a bit too complicated at the moment I think....

A product with such a price should come along with some nice and working software don't you think? Not everybody is capable of playing with drivers and stuff like this....

No offense......

Thanks again!

Didimon,

This version is a beta which is explained in the first posts. They are designed to be test versions to confirm everything is working.

The full release will appear later with the full installation.

Hi,
just to give some feedback for ANRB1.2 beta.
Using a 1.73Ghz/768MB Compaq laptop running WinXP.

I downloaded patch 2 because even with patch 1 i had some crashes (blue screen).
Then:

ANRB v1.2 up to now (some hours running) seems to have solved crash problems, and i have experienced that:

The following is a wish list:

That's all from my side...

Nice report montimax!

I've found that if you have no internet connection, "Share Flight Data" causes RB to shut down after 30 seconds.  However, with an internet connection, RB works fine.  The photo download is disabled on this version of the beta.

Hi,

I managed to install the new driver (version 2.2.4.0 according the device manager), ANRB12.

As montimax, I can't tell if the firmware update was succesfull, no evidence present.

With the 'share' option on, RB shuts down within a few minutes (and I do have an internet connection without failures)

Share option is now disables to see what happens.... by tomorrow morning you will know..

Strange thing is that the download photo option is still working with me??????

If things won't work again, I'd like to start all over with a clean install..... is it possible to hand out a manual or instructions how to proceed on a clean system? And how to clean the system? FTclean is an option but it didn't work quite well for me, still the driver version 2.0.0.0 was present in the 'choose hardware' list.

Do you have any idea how long before an official patch (instead of beta) will be released?

Thanks for your time and answers......

Regards: Daan

ps. it's running for 5 minutes now, seems to me like a new record! ;-)

Photo download has been disabled in this beta as it was causing a few issues.

The full version, will be able to confirm whether the firmware is installed. If you are running ANRB version 1.2 then the firmware should have been updated.

We don't have a date yet for the offical patch. We are still waiting for the beta tester feedback. So far everyone who has installed the patch fully as had any serious issues to report on.

Daan,

Are you sure that you are actually using the Beta12 ANRB.exe file?  If you a still downloading pictures - not just getting the message at the bottom right to say photos are being processed - then you are not using Beta12.

Goodmorning,

Well the RB shut down agian during the night.....

Running ANRB.exe, 1,780Kb 9/8/2007 2:32AM

Going to ABOUT in the program gives ANRB12 with the same date and time.

I also see the vertical screen now, that's only in 1.2 isn't it?

You tell me?

Thanks

Thanks we will note that and see what we can do. That really is a large screen so we hadn't tested it on that size.

Thank you Airnav and Allocator for replies.
I am running ANRB12 (got from "About"), so i think firmware upgrade was successful.

I confirm that ANRB shuts down if share flights enabled and no internet connection, but i made a try in my office using a proxy server and ANRB shuts down even if connected (i can get weather data for example), anyway unchecking share flight the problem disappear.

I am near an airfield so i can follow planes even down to ground, and i experienced that when touching down (and after) the plane indications on radar view are not correct: heading is no longer correctly lined up with the field, and speed/altitude are no longer updated (they remain the same as in the moment before touch down, even if plane position is changing).
Also when taking off the heading is wrong and there is no speed/height indication while the plane is running on the ground, and indications turn ok ony when height > 0 feet.

Montimax,

I think that there are 2 issues here.

- I believe that the way that the ADS-B Mode S box in the aircraft works is that it is switched off when the aircraft touches down (Weight on Wheels switch) so you will loose the data when the aircraft lands.  Depending on your Timeout and Hide settings, the aircraft will keep showing on your map screen untill it meets these settings.

- Also, there is a bug with the RB network data processing which does not Timeout and Hide the aircraft on the map screen even when the aircraft stops sending data.  Even though the latest version of the Beta12 software has separate Timout and Hide settings for Network data, these don't seem to be working at the moment.  An earlier Beta I tried had these working and it really got rid of the "dead" Network data.  If you look at an airfield away from your location using Network data, you will see aircraft "hovering" in the last position that they were last received.

Hi allocator, back from my long weekend jaunt. I've been fiddling around and got the same file dates and values as you. When I go to do the driver update, get as far as USB <> Serial stage. Click on the Have Disk, then Drivers folder, then says The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.

Brisbane, welcome back!

Not teaching you to suck eggs :-)

- Are you right clicking on the correct USB device, the AirNav RadarBox entry in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section of the Hardware Device Manager?

If so, then:

- are you going to the correct drivers folder, that is the one with the new FTDIBUS.inf and FTDIBUS.sys files

ADS-B is not switched off when on the ground but it goes to a different data mode, which must be decoded by a different decoding scheme. If you don't see planes on the ground then something is wrong with the decoder.

Actually there are trials undergoing as in Vienna that use ADS-B/Mode-S data for traffic control on the ground.

RadarBox does pick up ground signals. You can have a look at the network as there is always a few being picked up somewhere.

Its likely your line of sight once the aircraft lands is restricted and hence you may not get solid messages and just the occasion details.

Also in some places such as Heathrow they seem to have a habit of disappearing from ADS-B all together as soon as the aircraft touches down.

Brisbane,

Confirm that you have the RadarBox "box" plugged in to the USB port.  It has to be connected to do the upgrade.  If you can't see it, it might be a "return to AirNav" job.

AirNav Support - over to you?

Brisbane,

If you can't see the AirNav RadarBox in the Device Manager, then you can't tell what drivers you have installed.  You might have the same DRIVER INSTALLATION FILES, but unless you can right click on AirNav RadarBox in Device Manager and select Properties, you can't see what drivers that device is using.

With the Device Manager open, unplug your RB and plug it into a DIFFERENT USB port, does it then appear in the Device Manager list?

I have tried sticking the USB cable into all spare sockets, still does'nt register AirNav box. I have 5 USB ports, 4 are listed as USB Root hubs + 1 other under Other devices USB<-> Serial with a yellow query sign, which i suspect the Radarbox is hiding behind.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, firmware update was there but was quicker than expected.
I now have new firmware - split view with height screen (can that be turned off?)
But, even though I can see aircraft via the network, I can not get my own.
I have both blue/white light flashing 1 per second but twice every five seconds.
Any ideas pls?

Hi again,

I tried everything in the meantime, even Doro helped me and things started to look good, I even had an uptime of almost 48 hours but the last few days (without any config changes what so ever) it doesn't work anymore..... all steps are done writen in this topic, all drivers seems to be correct, all configs (data sharing on/off, 1000 to 5000mps etc.. etc..) have been tried but it still fails.... program terminates within a few minutes to sometimes a bit longer but it's annoying....

I'm starting to loose faith in this product..... I also have an SBS-1 of Kinetic which has an uptime of over 3 months now without any failures.... seems to me that this must be possible with the Radarbox as well or not? And more important: WHEN??

Is there a money back garantee? Don't like it anymore....

Hi Didimon,

Firstly sorry to hear you are still having issues. If the beta 2 has been installed fully as you mention then it should be running perfectly (as it is doing for the majority of the customers). It sounds like something else may be an issue.

Can you send us a the elf file in your program folder to support so we can see what the issue is? Also just confirm your driver, firmware, software versions.
Sorry but RadarBox is a no refundable product as stated on our website.

Hi

Now i put here the version of the driver and the software that doesn't run:

Driver Version: Primetec  2.2.4.0  (27-06-2007)

Software Version: ANRB12   2007/09/08 02.32

I confirm that all the files are in the position indicated.

Now i have tried to reinstall the update, now the program doesn't crash but he signal me that the Hardware is Connected (green square) but the hardware doesn't give sings of life, "usb" and "signal" light are always off. The only light that is on is the power light.

davis, Didimon

Your patch is not installed fully. You do not have the latest drivers installed which explains the issue plus you have not told us your firmware version.

Please read through post 1/2 in this topic to update to the latest driver.

I think I'm going crazy on this one, even beeing married is more simple...... ;)

I tried every step of the first two postings (SEVERAL TIMES) in this topic so how is it possible I still haven't the latest drivers than?

The only thing which does not work is the firmware update, it opens but never shuts down again so I'm not able to see what firmware is installed.....

Didimon,

Ok we will get there :) Please answer the following questions below fully.

1.) What Driver version are you using?
(This can be obtained by going into control panel -> system - hardware - device manager - usb devices - (right click on RadarBox then driver version) )

2.) Version of RadarBox 2007 you are running?
(Open RadarBox 2007, go to help then about)

3.) Confirm you have run Firmware update in the RadarBox 2007 fodler and confirm you have the same files as listed below:

ANRB.exe
FirmwareUpdater.exe
ftd2xx.dll
rb.dll

4.) In your RadarBox folder go into the Drivers folder. Tell us the version name of ftd2xx.dll?

ok, again than (I already told you several times) :P

1. driver 2.2.4.0
2. ANRB12 version date 2007/09/08 02:32
3. Yes I runned the firmware update which gave nothing during install, only installing but never a conformation that the new firmware was installed.

I do confirm:

ANRB.exe (1,780KB)
FirwareUpdater.exe (955KB)
ftd2xx.dll (198KB)
rb.dll (208 KB)

4. FTD2XX.dll -> File Version 3.1.14.2

Davis, Didimon

Download the drivers from:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/ANRBDrivers204.zip

Extract them to a new directory on your computer.

c) First you need to do the driver update. These new drivers were developed by an external company and have some changes that prevent the Hardware disconnect issues.
They are located in "C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007"
To update them:
 - Go to "Windows Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager";
 - Browse "Universal Serial Bus Controllers";
 - Double Click over "AirNav RadarBox";
 - Go to the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver";
 - Answer "No, not this time";
 - Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
 - Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install";
 - Click "Have Disk";
 - Select the folder you extracted the drivers to earlier - Click Next and follow the specified instructions.

Once that is done, go back and tell us your driver version again. Then run the firmware update in the RadarBox folder and tell us exactly what it says (exactly what is written on the app)

So far it seems your intial issue is that you have not updated your driver. Lets get that updated first.

I sure appreciate your support but this is exactly what I did before....... Why don't you believe me?

And once again I just did it with a restart of the computer afterwards......

Voila:

Driver Version: 2.2.4.0

And now?

Running the firmware updater, it says now:

Version: 1.01.0
Update Version: 1.01.2

And that's what will stay there untill I die....... I can only (like lots of other people) close this update by the cross in the upper right corner......

Davis-

Can you confirm the firmware as Didimon has done.

Didimon-

When it stops, does the hardware disconnect, do you get a error? does it lockup the machine?

Since I'm not running the radarbox software it's impossible to see if the hardware disconnects isn't it?

Not running the software only gives a Power led on the radarbox, no USB and no Signal......

I don't get an error (even now it's still says: Version: 1.01.0 - Update Version: 1.01.2)

Machine is fully servicable, no lock ups.....

Dear Airnav Support... As a team member of ATCbox.com I have been following this discussion with interest, Didimon an I have several machines running Airnav on different locations.

Mine at home, a clean install, has similar problems since a week, although NOTHING changed and, running without problems for 4 weeks. In advertitly my account was deativated and reactivated by Airnav. Since then the problems started. I cannot imagine a relation between the two, but still. When nothing changed here. What can cause this problem?

My network is stable. And yes, by all means I am using the right drives and I rebooted. And yes, I am getting grumpy now.

Doro

Done.......... the radarbox is running again with USB and Signal lights flickering but the problem will be again that the software stops....

Busy all afternoon with no new things learned or to be shown...

When it was running fine was that running the latest beta or using version 1?
Not sure what you mean by your account was deactivated, can you explain this?
When you say it stopped working is it that RadarBox does not get any signal?

Didimon,

I am asking about when RadarBox 2007 is running. You just mentioned it will stop "but the problem will be again that the software stops....". So we are asking how will stop?

The firmware has updated thats not the issue.

Airnav

When it was running fine was that running the latest beta or using version 1?

-> Latest Beta

Not sure what you mean by your account was deactivated, can you explain this?

-> Come on! The account information said 'Your account has expired' I mailed support and all has been back in place since a few days.

When you say it stopped working is it that RadarBox does not get any signal?

-> The box works, it is that the application just quits.

Ronald

Didimon:

Ok, can you try playing the with your screen refresh rate in RadarBox 2007 (File -> Preferences).

Try changing the number to 4000 or even 5000 and keep the RadarBox 2007 window open if possible (i.e not minimized) and get back to us when it does the same thing as before (closing to the desktop).

Doro:

We don't know every support ticket by heart and in our memory so I am sorry if we didn't remember that. Ok, so in your case the app quits now but wasn't before. This may be hard to track down as the account request should have nothing to do with it and nothing else would have changed in the actual software. Have you installed anything recently or any new USB hardware?

Also our main server is having a few issues (for the last day or so) which should not affect the RadarBox network but it may be related to causing a few issues. We will investigate this.

Did that already lots of times..... told you before already. Played with 1000 to 10000 to see what happened but no luck...... with 1000 it ran stable for a few hours one time while with 5000 it stopped after only 2 minutes.... it's completely random it seems....

So that's again no solution.....

Like Doro says, we started very enthousiastic at this product, gave you 11 customers already but this is rather poor don't you think?

I think with a product like this, which is highly priced, you should do everything you can to come with a final working fix instead of beta testing all around which takes way too much time....

Be honoust, were you to quick with releasing this product?

Still hoping for a solution on a short term.......

No, as I posted all correct drivers installed, correct firmware upgrade, no network issues here, no recent installs.  For ATCbox.com we only use dedicated and clean install machines. Remeber it was running properly for a few weeks, so the only thing left is following the thing that has been changed.

-> Also our main server is having a few issues (for the last day or so) which should not affect the RadarBox network but it may be related to causing a few issues. We will investigate this.

Okey, that is all I ask.

(That and an issue-free definitive version 2 of Airnav Radarbox. )

Davis,

I do worry that if you can't get RadarBox to work on 3 computers, then you must have done something wrong :-(

It is highly unlikey that it will not work on all three.  Maybe you have made the same mistake with each installation?

Davis,

Are you running Xp or VISTA - if it is VISTA then I can't help you.

 - You are correct about the Firmware upgrade.  It happens very quickly and the window has to be closed by using the red cross.

- Reading back through your posts, you believe that you have installed everything OK and upgraded to the Beta version with the Firmware upgrade.

- Your problem is that only the power light shows on the RB "box"?

- Can you see the AirNav RadarBox in the Universal Serial Bus controllers section of the Device Manager as shown by my screen shots at the start of this thread?

All the best

The only way to get people happy again is to release an official version with no crap within a few days MAXIMUM.....

I'm totally fed up with the circles we are talking in here with no result....

It's very nice that it's working for a lot of people but don't forget the few which keep on having problems... also these people should have a working product without any failures.

OK Davis, so your problem is with starting RadarBox as the startup window will not accept your username and password off the CD?

The Username and Password are on the CD, you do not put your email address in the start window.

User name should be something like:

PGANRB100***

and Password:

1757*****

Make sure you type both of these in rather than allowing RB to "remember" the password from the last time (as you might have entered this incorrectly).

What happens?

Didimon,

I've read back through your posts, and I think that your problem is that RB runs OK, but shuts down after a few minutes.  The only time I've had this happen is when I've had "Share Flight Data" selected in Preferences and I've been running without an Internet connection or my Internet connection has failed.

I'll read back again through your posts, because I might have got this wrong.

OK,

I'm sorry, but I have no more ideas.

I can not understand why your RadarBox does not work.

When I disconnect my RadarBox "box" from the USB connection, I can still run the RadarBox program.

No aircraft show without the box connected, but the program does run.

You must have made an error installing the upgrade, either the driver, the Firmware upgrade, or the ANRB.exe itself.

AirNav Support, if davis was running the OLD exe file with the new drivers and firmware, would the program fail to run as davis says?

The software should pass the intial screen of logging in. Davis you also mention you have 3 other computers.

My first intial thought is that your exe file is corrupted. However the chances of that over 3 computers is very low. Secondly this bug is usually assiocated with Vista users not running in admin mode. In your XP machine do you have full rights?

Lastly send support a message with the exact codes you are using to login.

Doro:

You mentioned the software was working perfectly for a couple of weeks and is having issues now. If nothing has changed your end in terms of other USB devices added or you any changes to the RadarBox software then lets just wait untill the server issue is rectified our end (we don't however believe this should be an issue) Send your elf file to support so we can take a look.

If the software was working fine for a couple weeks then that rules out any problem with the software and its then either conflicting software, hardware failure or an unknown issue to us.

Didimon,

To answer your first question, no RadarBox was not released too early. We have have over 200 customers, if all were having issues we would be overloaded here on the forum and nobody would be on 24/7 on the network. That is simply no the case.

While do we agree that a some customers have had issues and we have done everything to combat them and we apologise for trouble caused. We have been around continually on the forums answering questions as well the email support.
The latest beta was aimed towards those customers having problems so we could have them rectified before releasing a general patch to everyone. So far the latest patch has been a success with the bugs being rectified. If as in your case you are having issues then please communicate with us via support and send us the elf files as otherwise we will never know. We have yours now and are now taking a look.

The full patch should be out fairly soon as its gone into final testing now. This should eradicate any issues with customers not upgrading fully.

upgrade is 0.91.0  up version 1.01.2.

You should try run the Beta Firmware upgrade 0.9 to 1.1 first and then the firmware upgrade 1.2.

Will do. Just announce when your server issue are resolved. I will post when I have a failure. The only clue I have left to test is the Windows Time Synchronizing Service that I suspect.

Did you mention that earlier on in a post, as someone on the forum or maybe a support ticket mentioned it worked fine when it was on or off (can't find it now)

I appreciate the support I get (eventhough it's going around in circles) but I do hope you feel my misery....

Since this afternoon the software is up and running but I'm not convinced yet.... one internet connection hick-up or network failure your side and things crash again.

We need a 24/7 thing without failures or hick-ups.... and I still think that is something which you should garantee regarding the price of the radarbox....... with no good software it's useless... and there is a very good alternative (Kinetic).

I will await the official version 2 but that should not take longer than a week (or 2 max).

Hi, i'm the sons of "davis"

I have installed this program also on my pc and i have also download the new patch anrbpatch12.zip. I have unzipped this file in the desktop.

I have do the installation with the hardware disconnected, after i have connected the hardware, i have installed the new patch driver from the folder in the desktop that i have unzipped before.

After this i have put the other file unzipped into the main folder of the program and i have overwrite the original file.

After this i have restart the pc and i have try to open the program.

Nothing: The hardware's "usb" light blinking, as you can see on the video that i have put on you tube. The program run correctly but i cannot see flight over me, i can see only the network flights.

I have Win XP, Pentium 4 3GHZ, 1 GB Ram, Radeon X1650.

I enclose here now some screen shots of what i see on my pc and on my software:

Hello son of davis,

This problem is completely different to that described by davis.

I can make my RadarBox do exactly the same as your pictures and video.  All I have to do is to disconnect the antenna!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fGGC-EYL1DA

So your problem is:

- Your antenna not connected (this could be an electrical problem with the antenna, or with the anteanna connection in the box itself).

- Your antenna is not outside in a good position to pick up aircraft

- There are no aircraft in your area

- There is no Mode S ground radar in your location to make the aircraft transponder reply

Are you using the standard AirNav antenna?

This is what happens when I plug my antenna into the box:

This is what happens when I plug my antenna into the box:

I confirm that i'm Using the standard air nav antenna but i confirm you that the antenna and the box run correctly with the basic CD software.

The problem of the blue light blinking is only when i update the driver and the firmware with the files in post n°2.

Quote
- Your antenna is not outside in a good position to pick up aircraft

- There are no aircraft in your area

This is impossible, i live in a particular zone where there are a lot of aircraft that do italy-spain and France-Tunisia. The antenna is in the same position of when it run correctly with the basic program and driver. I repeat this problem come only when i have updated the driver and firmware.

did you try unplugging the usb connector while the software is running and then plugging in the Radarbox again (preferably in a different USB-connector)?

Can you still see the AirNav Radarbox in the device manager? Has it still the new drivers activated?

Are all jacks still plugged in where they belong?

In my opinion everything looks good. Maybe its an antenna thing?

You could check it - at your own risk - with a simple piece of copper wire dismanteled at one end at a length of about 7 cm (thats Lambda/4 from 1090 Mhz) and put it in the middle of the sma connector.
I'm not quite sure if this is too rude to try or something could break, but it somehow looks like the antenna does not work???

I try many times to reinstall the program. With the basic installation all run good. When i upload to the new patch i have the problem.

Do you have any other USB devices connected at the same time? If yes, did you try to unplug them, restart and start the whole procedure with installing radarbox again?

Ciao!

davis,

I am finding it very difficult to help you with your problem, because every time you describe your problem it is different.

First you said:

Quote
Hi

The program is arrived 4 days ago, i have installed it and all run perfectly.

Problems are arriving when i have decided to update to version 2. Drivers works correctly but the program crash alone when i updated the firmware. I have tried it on 3 Pc.

Next you said:

Quote
Now i have tried to reinstall the update, now the program doesn't crash but he signal me that the Hardware is Connected (green square) but the hardware doesn't give sings of life, "usb" and "signal" light are always off. The only light that is on is the power light.

Next this:

Quote
hi Air Nav
i operate in 3 computer ...i have download new patch ..NOTING not work..i think 710 euro for one program that work or it does not work badly are too many. .cosa I must make? Sorry for my english...they are a lot  sad and angry

Then you said that you had a problem with the Username and Password:

Quote
YES  for all the questions  i have drive 2.2.4.0 upgrade is 0.91.0  up version 1.01.2.. now wen i start with  ANRB.exe interface appare but i put  email e password but not go..i put user name from original CD with pass but not go ..one problem after other ..

Quote
HI Allocator  ..confirm user of CD is PGARNB1002XX
pass 175756XXX   wryte like you see.correct ..i flag' remember ' but not go..

But then you posted that the program did run, but you were not picking up any aircraft:

Quote
After this i have restart the pc and i have try to open the program.

Nothing: The hardware's "usb" light blinking, as you can see on the video that i have put on you tube. The program run correctly but i cannot see flight over me, i can see only the network flights.

Quote
I confirm that i'm Using the standard air nav antenna but i confirm you that the antenna and the box run correctly with the basic CD software.

The problem of the blue light blinking is only when i update the driver and the firmware with the files in post n°2.

I can only think of three things.

1. You are unable to follow the instructions correctly to make the upgrade, and if you have been using computers for 15 years then you must have missed something.

2. You RadarBox is broken, so you should make arrangements to return it to AirNav, who I am sure will replace it with one they have tested.

3. You are deliberately wasting my time and the time of all those trying to help you solve a problem which does not exist.

I hope that it is number 2 that is the problem.

However, I'm afraid that I don't have the time to help you any more davis, so you're on your own mate!

Well, allocator.........

You have post the history of what's happened to me. Now you can put all in the trash and you must consider only that i have do on my personal pc (i'm the son of davis) (the last 2 "quote" that you have take from my precedents posts").

I confirm that in precedent days i has all the problems that i have post here but now the problem is only in the last quote. Just this:

Quote
After this i have restart the pc and i have try to open the program.

Nothing: The hardware's "usb" light blinking, as you can see on the video that i have put on you tube. The program run correctly but i cannot see flight over me, i can see only the network flights.

I confirm another time that with the basic program (WHAT YOU CAN INSTALL FROM ORIGINAL CD) all run good. The blinking "usb" light come when i upload driver.

I am not the only one to having this problem, don't take me like a stupid, I am enough expert of installations, but this beta on my 4 pc doesn't run good…

Very Good! Your RadarBox must be working.

What seems to be the problem is that the drivers do not seem to be all right. I also had that, EVEN THOUGH just like you, I did everthing right.

So reinstall the 1.2 drivers as instructed now, with Have Disk. Reboot. Start Application. Unplug USB plug USB. Close application.

This is what I did and from then it seemed to work OK.

Let me know.

Son of davis,

I suggest you should think at least twice about things you are saying here.

The beta patch is EXPLICIT (see remark in first post from AirNav Support: "It is very important that you follow the instructions below. This beta should be used by experienced computer users only."...) for EXPERIENCED users. Not as you stated for an "inexpert of PC".
As annoying as it is that people had problems with the beta patch, it is often the pure nature of such software. A "beta version" is no mature, failsafe software.

A lot of people (including me) helped you, to get your fathers box running. After numerous, serious suggestions you finally got the box running. Your comment to this was the F-word and more language like that.
In my humble opinion this language is absolutely out of place in a forum like this.

I can't speak for other people here, but I would feel offended by your comments, especially if I gave you a lot of hints to solve your problem and get impudent comments afterwards.

I think to apologize is the least thing you should do.

Markus

the word that i have used is an expression that in italy all people use when finally a thing run correctly, you don't undestand the real sense of the phrase. I'm sorry if someone feel touched from my expression but i want only to vent. Now i'm very happy that all run good.

Thank you all for your help and support...

Davis and Son of Davis.

1. If you are an inexperiened user keep away of beta versions and wait
patiently for the official version like I do , although  I consider myself as
an experienced user but happy with what I have now.
2. If you don't understand the real sense of a phrase do not use it , keep this
expressions  for your own language and forums.
3. I hope you don't run into troubles again , I don't think many people will be
willing to help you after all what you wrote before and still refuse to apologize
to the ones who tried to help .

Regards
Dan.

Everything is corrected now, except 4 simple glitches. We want to hear from our betas first and then will release it. Good News is that Firmware and Drivers are the same as in beta 2 so no more trouble with them. They SW/HW connection is totally stable now so any problem from now on is just the ANRB.exe that needs to be changed.

Expect some news in a few days. :-)
And after this keep the suggestions coming as we will collect and implement them. RadarBox is a never ending project that has to grow month after month and your user opinion is the most important.
