Title: Recorded Files.
Post by: BobR on January 09, 2009, 11:17:04 PM
Is there a way of fast forwarding a recorded airnav file to a certain point or is it a case of having to let it run in real time.

If not it would be a handy addition to future software updates.

Cheers,

Bob

You can't fast forward, it has been mentioned before and we hope to add it in future versions.

You can use third party screen recording software (like Camtasia) for this.  Not particularly cheap, but very effective.  You can output the resulting recording in a variety of formats (avi, mpeg, wmv, etc. etc.), zoom in and out and have full speed control and editing facilities.  It's ideal for an application such as this - I used it extensively in NATS for "real" radar/RT recordings for use in investigation and ATC training.

There was a useful tool called RBTOOLS, developed by f6gsg that allowed 10x fast forward of recorder files.  Development stopped - see http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=486

FastStone Capture is another screen recorder utility.  Obviously nowhere near as capable as Camtasia, but at USD 19.95 might be worth trying for the 30 day free period.
