Title: Some questions Please. Would really appreciate help.
Post by: swadeep on January 05, 2009, 04:19:37 AM
I am very interested in this product. I just have some questions please and hope you can help me.

1. I understand range is around 200 miles (coverage)? Please confirm.

2 Do you hear pilots and ATC communicate also like scanner/airband or do you just see aircrafts on screen?

3. Works in Thailand? I am about 20 KM away from bangkok airport. Can i see traffic on the ground at Bangkok airport also? Or only airborne traffic? If so up to what altitude?

4. I live in a building up on 9th floor. Any side effects to this of pickign up signal?

Thanks Very Much.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi swadeep,

1.) Coverage dependants on your location and line of sight between the antenna and the aircraft. In the best location and conditions you can view up to 250nm. With the default antenna is built up locations, coverage of around 100nm is normal.

2.) Just aircrafts, no comunication.

3.) Yes works anywhere there are ADS-B aircraft. If you can view aircraft on the ground by sight to the antenna then they should appear as well in the sofware.

4.) The higher you are the better the chance of your line of sight.

Hope that helps.

Almost all the INTERNATIONAL airlines are ADS-B. Also most new Boeings and Airbuses, even of domestic airlines are, but most turboprops, and smaller jet airliners (eg Embraer, Bombardier) and older airliners aren't, but they still appear on the list, but not on the map.

Do get one soon! I hope you will share on the network - data from Thailand will be much appreciated.

Rod
