Title: Reporter e-mail issue
Post by: Storm on November 24, 2008, 09:53:17 PM
Hi all,

I have my reporter to send my log everyday at 0000UTC to about 6 e-mail addresses but It wont send any of them.

I tried two differnt commas between the addresses but it wont work either way I tried these , ; comma and semicolon.

It will e-mail ALL recipients when I manually click send now.

How do I fix this? I have no anti virus or firewall.

It just needs a comma between them.

Do you get a message at the bottom when it tries to send? I wonder if your ISP might consider multiple email addresses as spam by this method and hence block them.

OK. with just the comma it sends to all recipients. But it does not auto-send them for some reason.

Also, I do not get a message. All recipient get the e-mail. Is there another setting somewhere to enable the auto-send? I have the Send at 0000UTC box checked.

You just need that tick box checked. Try tonight with the send UTC box checked and then check to see the Automatic Report Log tab in reporter after it should run.

The Automatic Report is used by many of our customers to send to mailing lists and such so its either the commas that was missing or that your ISP might not like bulk sending.

Well its 0010UTC and the log shows that it didn't send it. It sent fine to all when I manually clicked Send Now. So my ISP can't be blocking the e-mails.

It feels like a software issue.

Just a thought, have you entered your email address in Preferences - Home Station Data ?

Have you left RadarBox running overnight just in case there is a timing error regarding just when the software thinks it's midnight UTC rather than just waiting until 10 minutes after the time?

Yes the computer is up and running 24/7

A couple of ideas to try:
1. Have you tried both "Todays entries" and "Yesterdays entries" selected?
2. WHat gets listed in the Automatic Report Log - anything?
Title: Re: Reporter e-mail issue
Post by: Storm on November 27, 2008, 01:21:25 PM
tarbat yes I tried to e-mail both with no avail now.

The log shows a message: Could not connect to SMTP server to send auto report.

When I cleck send now I get a message saying Message Sent Succesfully, then a moment later anothe message says there was an SMTP error and to check background software firewalls/antivirus, I have my Windows firewall off and no anti virus on this system

Now I am not recieving any e-mails. I removed everyone from the list and just kept my own e-mail but nothing is being sent.

What now?

It should be fine now to send emails, the issue has been corrected.

Thank you it sent the e-mail. Now I'll wait till 0000 to see if it will auto-send.

Nothing! No error in the log either.

Storm, do you have a valid email address set in the Preferences > Home data > Email box?  Put your email in here too to see if it makes a difference.

One other thought, what is your local time for 0000UTC?

And what have you entered in the "Subject" for the auto email?

And you are running v2009?

When mine sends at 0000UTC, I see this message in the status bar in Radarbox.

Yes. Its in there.

When mine sends at 0000UTC, I see this message in the status bar in Radarbox.

Local time here is 0300. I don't enter a "Subject" I have to radio button on Generate Today's Entries. And for some reason the subject is still stuck on the last time I manually generated the report which was the 28th. And I have yet to receive an auto e-mail.

I'm usually not awake at 0000UTC to check what message I get. I'm using 2009.

You could adjust your PC clock to 0258 and see what actually happens at 0000UTC.  It might help diagnose what's going wrong.  Otherwise it's difficult to guess what might be causing the problem, since it works flawlessly for other users.

And I select "Yesterday's Entries".  Surely, selecting "Today's Entries" will mean there's nothing to send, so that may be what's causing the problem.

Still doesn't work. It'll send it manually with now problems but not automatically.

Can you send us in a private message what you are entering in email textbox.

As earlier on in this thread you didn't know what to enter to seperate them (even though it says comma seperated next to the textbox). So that might mean you didn't understand that fully and have entered something wrong?

I know what comma separated means. I did see that it said comma seperated in the box. I knew I had to put commas between addresses but wanted to check since it didn't work, I just didn't know if it was a comma or semi-colon as some programs prefer one over the other. It will say comma separated but will want a semi-colon not a comma. Plus this feature has NEVER worked for me automatically.

I PM'd you.

Storm, at 0000UTC, do you see any message appear in the status bar of Radarbox?

Hi All

I am getting the same problem.  I can manually send but the auto send is not working.  Addresses are correct the box is ticked but nothing gets sent.  Was there a resolution to this?

Graham, what messages appear in the RB Status area at 0000UTC when it attempts to send the email?  See my earlier post for screenshots of what you should see.

We've got 2 threads running now discussing this issue - different people, but the same problem.

Tarbat

Reset my PC clock to 23:59 and waited.  Nothing happened with RB at 00:00.  No message seen as you highlighted.  I do have a back up program that kicks in at that time. That worked fine.  Wouldn't have thought that would cause a problem.

It needs to be 00:00 UTC.

Maybe your backup program is stopping other processes working.  Maybe try disabling the backup program and see if that works.  Does that run at 00:00 local time, or 00:00 UTC?

Do you get anything in the Reporter Automatic Report Log.  You should see a line stating "20090204 000001: Auto Report for 20090203 sent with success"

OK stopped Backup sw and tried again. no joy.  Stopped and started RB and tried again.  This time success.  Will reset time again and see what happens tonight.

Hi

Been doing some further testing with this.  It seems the auto report log only happens once after I start RB2009.  After the first auto report is sent it never repeats again.  All other sw is shut down for the period.  Only the first send is reported in the log.

Anyone any further ideas, Airnav?

Cheers

Graham

This is a well-documented problem with v2.0 ... no word whether it's fixed in v2.1.  I'm surprised this thread took so long to get to this point :D

jmhayes,

It wont be fix in 2.10 public version.  Since that version 2.10 will never be release to the public.
AirNav support should have notified us on this fixed long time ago. and not let us hang like this for months...

Per AirNav Development.
This bug has been fixed 3.0 version

Read the version 3.0 Official full list of suggestions/improvements:

Before you go spouting that it won't be fixed you might want to take the time to read the AirNav post properly before you waste time by digging up old posts and spouting dis-information.

It is already fixed in the latest version that is being released as a Public Beta under the name v3 instead of v2.10

GlynH,

Read the 3rd to last line in my post.
I copy and pasted what AirNav Dev posted on the other topic on June 15th.
As you notice AirNav Dev had to add it to the 3.0 topic about it.

You might know it's fixed. Since you might be using a newer build of the software.
Since I haven't tested any newer software build.  I can't say it's fixed or not.  Since I haven't confirmed it myself.  So I just say what AirNav Dev says.

Since AirNav Support hasn't said anything about it on this topic page.
I wasn't digging up a old post. Since the last post was from year 2009. Not like it was from year 2006.  I sent them this topic URL in a email to them the other month.  So AirNav Knew they haven't responded to this topic.

Just wanted to get this topic updated. So when users reads this topic, or do a search option on this forum.  The answer can be read on the same page.  Any topic should be update with the latest information.   It's not digging up old posts or spouting Dis-Information like you say it is.

The topic was still 'open' without any notice of a fix.

It's all good.  Any updates are good for us users. :)

Take Care,
-Brian
